Omaha AutornoJbil Department sii !- EajBMWMabbbMHinpiV-AAf xlea fir ft ALL QUESTIONS CHEERFULLY ANSWEUED THROUGH THE COLUMNS OF THIS DEPARTMENT Automobiles for 1911 The 1011 automobiles will not show very many radical changes from the present models. Although the auto Is not standardized the differences are very slight in each succeeding model. There are many new companies en tering the field of 1011 cars and their machines are mostly low priced and with low horse power. Practically all of these low priced autos have four cylinder engines and are very similiar to the higher priced makes. Competition is getting so keen now that the big profits will be the exception rather than the rule. Most of the manufacturers are nuttintr out new "torpedo" models. The front uuur iu mese niuuets are appreciated in cold weather and this stvlo nt limlv eliminates much of the dust. borne of the makers are abandoning the four-cylinder type and are making six-cvllnder models exclusively. Hut this is only in the higher priced makes. Although in Europe engines with as low as twelve horse-power are turned out in six-cylinder models this has not yet been copied in America. The "block'' type of engine, in which two or four cylinders are cast In one unit, is gaining in favor as it tends to reduce the weight and size. The mechanical oiling system is being abandoned in favor of the self contained circulation system. Car bureters are greatly improved and jump ignition is being used on practi cally all cars, with a high tension magnet as the source of power. The use of the therruo-syphon or gravity system of water circulation is much more general In the 1011 cars than be fore The multiple disc clutch is still in general use but it is being simplified greatly Wheel sizes are much larger as it makes riding much easier and the tires last much longer. Demountable and quick-detachable rims are standard. Many of the cars are being put out fully equipped and some of the higher priced makes are equipped with air pumps driven by the engine for tire pumping. The standard equipment on many includes lamps, horns, tops, wind shields, shock absorbers, speedo meters and locks. Everything considered the 1011 cars will be much more convenient and com fortable and better grades of material and better workmanship will be the rule. While the cars are all being made more comfortable. The garage located in the rear of the new McCorkle building, has been leased by S. C. Reck and he has entered into the automobile business in Box Butte county. As urill be seen by his ad in this week's issue of The Herald he has taken over the agency for the Ford automobiles in this county. Mr. McCorkle has sold a great iiiauy ui uiese popular macnines ana air. Reck will undoubtedly keep up the record. It is simply a question of getting the cars fast enough. We predict a good business for the Rex Garage, equipped as it is with all the latest appliances for the storage and repairing of automobiles. The "Go It Alone" Man. Where vou find one merdiunt-, of a town rootinir alonn. vnn mm depend upon it there is something wrong witn emit man s makeup. Any merchant so narrow- minded as to turn against the good will, not only of the merch ants, but of the citizens as well, of the town in which he lives, had better take an invoice of himself and see what is the mat ter with him. He has not learned the first principle of good fellowship and he is missing many good things. He is a blank in the comunity in which he lives, for he does not contribute either in money or energy to the upbuilding of his town. At church he is missing and fraternal organizations ho knows nothing of, because he knows, nothing of brotherly love and J good fellowship. Such a man is ' to be pitied. He does not belong ' in business. Omaha Trade Exhibit. Resolution The Rex Garage S. C. Reck, Prop.
