Piano Contest Booming It is said that "Open confes sion is good for the soul," hence we may as well "acknowledge the corn" and confess that the object in starting the great vot ing contest now going on was to boom subscriptions and at the same time give to a number of lady friends of the paper prizes that will repay them for any ef fort they and their friends put forth to secure them. The con test is having the desired effect. Subscriptions are booming and the prospect is that they will continue to boom for some time to come. Ridgell went to Craw ford last Saturday to complete arrangements with the Ft. Rob inson military band. While there he saw Col. Kingsbury and learned that the 8th cavalry will start for Cheyenne about July 1st to attend the summer ma neuvers at Ft. A. D. Russell. They will probably make the trip via Alliance and we hope that an effort will be made to get them to stop here during the celebration. We understand that the proper committee will take the matter up and see what can be done. Judge Ridgell informs us that the Ft.
