Good Work of A. V- F. D.
About 10:40 a. in. today, the blowing
of the fire whistle called the Alliance
Volunteer Fire Department to extin
guish a blaze in the roof of the two
story parsonage, nest of the United
Presbyterian church. The fire evident
ly Btarted from sparks from a chimney
blowing under the deck of the roof.
Had it not been put under control im
mediately, there is no doubt that a
disasterous fire would have resulted.
Had the parsonage burned, it would
have also without doubt taken the
church. The response of the fire de
partment was one of the quickest we
have ever seen anywhere. The build
ing was saved without anv great loss.
