the hospital to have an operation per
formed. Mrs. Bennie Price went back to In
diana and Michigan, to be gone about
six weeks.
Prof. Hunt of Alliance and Prof.
Pergee of the State University were
here Monday.
" Mrs. Wolfe has been to the Pacific
coast and stopped here on her way
home for a visit.
We hear that Mr. Frohnapfel has
bought Sam Grass' shop and is going
to build a new livery barn there.
A birthday dinner was given in honor
of Mr. W. Fosket Sunday at the home
of his daughter, Mrs. John Gromet.
An entertainment and box social was
given here at the opera house Friday
night under the auspices of the M. E.
church. There was a lame crowd and
the boxes sold well.
Dick Kinner and Mis3 Anna Beau
mont were quietly married at Heming
ford Monday by Rev. Burleigh. Mr.
Kinner is a conductor on the Burling
ton, and the bride taught school sever
al terms around here and is well known-
Mrs. Theo. Colvin, who lives south
west of town, grew dizzy and fell as
she was walking through the yard Mon
day evening, and when found was un
conscious and in quite a serious condi
tion. Dr- Little was immediately
called and she is improving. Mrs.
Colvin's daughters, Miss

It is just about time to get out your
furs. The past few days have come
close to winter.
J. B. Hire has moved to town from
his son's ranch. Mr. Hire has opened
a first class restaurant.
Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Anderson left
last Tuesday for Exeter, Nebr., where
they will make their home.
J. W. Reimuth purchased the old
school house, which will be occupied
by Mr. Paine after the middle of No
vember. Ed. Prichet has moved into his new
house. Mr. Andrews has a new house
near completion. Several others are
laying plans for new houses.
There was quite a railroad wreck in
Dalton one day last week. One train
telescoped another standing in the
yards. The latter was standing on the
main track without rear lights; the
train from the south was going too fast
to stop when the standing train was
seen. The engineer and fireman jump
ed. No one was hurt, but four cars
and the way car were completely de
molished. Sarah, Kinkead was born January
2, 1827, in Pennsylvania. She lived
her early years in the east, spent twenty-six
years in Dakota City, Iowa, Ne
braska, and the last three years she
lived with her daughter, Mrs. Martha
Fegley, one and a half miles northeast
of Dalton. She lived a consistent mem
ber of the Lutheran church since her
eighteenth year. She died October sth
at her daughter's home, having rounded
out more man tour score, useful, hon
orable vears. The remains wnr tnkon
