Bame was kicked by a horse Wednesday and was hurt quite badly. Dr. Little was called and thinks he can save the child's arm which was injure!. Luke Phillips' nephew, from Vir ginia, is here on a visit. Mr. Johnston, from -Iowa, is here buying another car load of horses. We hear the Central Lumber Co. is going to build an office on the old ' Pierce place. The Misses Hill, from Illinois, are here visiting Mrs. Johnson. Thad Warren is going to move out on his homestead in Sioux county, Jack Carey and family have gone for a month's visit to their old homo in Canada, Miss Jessie Gicger and little sister Esther have gone to York on a two weeks' visit. A new lunch counter has started hero in charge of Floyd McCIusky. Miss Susie Hopkins who has stayed a year with her brother at Dixon, this state, is home again. Geo. Wilson moved in with a car of emigrant goods last Tuesday. Mrs. Spradklcn's brother has an ab scess on his hand. Dr. Little is in attendance. Ed Wildy and Jim Potmeisel have secured a lot of land and arc going in the sheep business again. Mr. Huttou has sold a section of land for Mr. Rockcy. Mrs. Phillips has returned from her eastern trip. Mr. and Mrs. Btishnell have returned from Fairbury wheie they have been looking at that farm they bought. K. L. Pierce and wife returned from their Seattle trip last week, and they didn't think they liked it any better than in Box Butte county Mr. Schlamau and wife are back from their Colorado trip. Roy Hickey went to Omaha with a car of cattle and is going to visit his old home while there. Luke Phillips, A. M. Miller, H. E. Jones, John Armstrong and several others went on an excursion to Idaho, starting Monday. Mr. Wallace of Iowa, a friend of Geo- Carrol, is here looking up a location. Claude Schafner, from Hot Springs, is here visiting Clark, Mclntyre and the Scribner boys. Miss Nettie Uhrig is going to Omaha on a visit with her mother. Monty Green is back from his east ern trip. Dick Krinner is out visiting the Beaumont family. H, H. Funk, a druggist from Funk, Neb., and who formerly kept tho drug store here, is a guest of Dr. and Mrs. Eikncr. Prof. Deaver will teach school here again this year and will reside in the Sherwood house. Walter Klcmpke, who has been at Petersburg for some time, is home again, Carl Church, from eastern Nebraska, is out here on a visit with his brother. Fred Melick went to Crawford on business connected with buying potatoes this fall. Miss Dollie Pierce has been on the sick list for a day or two, but is now improving, Susie Davison went to Alliance last Sunday to be ready for school Monday, Hemingford school began Monday and the country children arc moving in. Brady Fenner left the ranch and moved in town so the children can at tend school. Tho Christian Endeavor gave a social Friday evening at the Congicgational church in honor ot the members who are going away to school this winter. Miss Nora Hansen has returned from Scotts Bluff where she has been treated by the doctor and is now feeling much better. The two-year-old baby of Henry Shincli who lives east of town dtank some carbolic acid and a hurry up call was sent to the doctor. Last reports from there the baby was doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. Burton from Atwood, Kan., have just come from the expo sition at Seattle and have stopped here for a visit with their old friends, Mr. Milter and family. The heavy hail and wind storm last Friday evening did considerable dam age in this part of the country. Geo. Carrol's granary, buggy shed and buggy were blown over, and one of bis valuable horses cut in the wire. All the windows on the north side of Clide Whelan's house were broken and we hear the hail took most of the corn. Two of Pete Fcrrin's horses were .itiuck by lightning Wednesday night.
