Berry, Mgr. Lightning Takes Life Lust Saturday afternoon ono of tlioso accidents if accident it may bo called unforeseen and unavoidable, that in an instant plunge a happy home into unspeakable grief, occurred twelve miles northeast of Alliance when quick as thought lightning took tho life of Joseph Albert Heath, sou of Mrs. V. 13. Heath. He had been working in the field and on account of the rain had put his team in the barn, and was standing in tho door when the lightning bolt struck, passing down the end of the barn and through the young man's body, causing instant death. The mother and sisters rushed to the scene and conveyed the lifeless form to the house, and hastily notified the neighbors. Soon the telephone wires bad carried tho sad news throughout the neighborhood and to town, causing a pall of grief to settle over the com munity. Tho deceased was ig years, C months and 4 days of age. Ho was a noble young man aud was most highly re spected and loved by a largo circle of acquaintances. who sincerely mourn his untimely demise. Ho was a member and treasurer of tho Epwortb League at Fairview, wheie ho had the confi dence of all; but it was particularly in his home, with bis widowed mother, brother and sisters, that his noble traits of character were shown, As one has said, "He was in love with his mother." Tho funeral was conducted at the home on Monday afternoon, the ser vice being fn charge of Uev. J. L. Val low, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Alliance, who prenched a very touching sermon from tho text, Jesus wept," John 11:35, after which the remains were interred beside those of his father in the Libby cemetery. The concourse of people in attendance was one of the largest that ever at tended a funeral in Box Butte county, testifying to the high esteem in which the young man was held. Seventy-five teams were counted, besides which a number of men attended on horseback. Besides his mother, a married broth er, Charles Heath, and five sisters, Mrs. D. G. Miller of Alliance, Mrs. Sam Trinkle, Mrs. Ed. Curry and tho Misses Anna aud Essie Heath, mourn the loss of one who was the comfort and joy of his home. We are aware that in such a time as this words arc 4 inadequate to comfort sorrowing hearts, but we wish to join the many friends in an expression- of sincerest sympathy for the afflicted relatives. Lawn Social On Friday evening of this week the Daughters of Isabella will give a lawn social on the lawn of Holy Rosary church. Ice cream aud cake will bo served. All are invited and a good time is assured.
