The board of county commissioners
met pursuant to adjournment, all mem
bers present; Sang C. Reck, J. M.
Wanek and J. P. Jensen. The follow
ing proceedings were had and done:
Upon motion of Sang C. Reck, sec
onded by J. P. Jensen, J. M. Wanek
was appointed chairman for the ensu
ing year.
Complaint having been made in re
gard to obstructions on road No. 44, it
is moved, seconded and carried that
the clerk be ordered to instruct the
'road overseer of Dist. 4 to see that the
saidi obstructions be removed forth
with. The day was consumed in looking
over accounts and looking over expense
for the last year and other informa
tion for making estimate for the ex
expenses for the ensuing year.
On motiou the board adjourned un
til tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.

pursuant to adjournment, same mem
bers present as on the preceding day.
The following proceedings were had
and done to-wit:
Petition of Clyde Whelan and fifteen
others to lay out road, commencing at
the northeast corner of section 5, 28
49, and running thence south between
sectious 4 and s and 8 and 9, 28-49,
and terminating at the southeast cor
ner of the northwest quarter ol section
8, 28-49; said petition being considered
at some length, it was laid over for
further consideration at the next meet
ing. On request of B. U. Sheppard of
Sioux county, for refund of tax paid
under protest, upon the proof and evi
dence, the county treasurer is hereby
.ordered to refund the amount of $5.26.
Taxes paid under protest upon the
southwest quarter of r, 24-49, by D.
W. Hughes, after due consideration of
the same and the proof and the evi
dence produced, it is considered that
the applicant is entitled to ?t6.oo and
the county treasurer s hereby ordered
to refund the same.
The county treasurer is hereby or
.dered to refund to John Kinkaid the
amount of $2.58, on account of being
assessed in school district G, instead of
13.

R. R. Lucas of the shop force is on
an extended visit with relatives and
friends in Kansas City.
Mrs. A. A, Opp of Edgemont is
spending a few days at the home of

Miss Blanche McDonald will arrive
Saturday morning from Lincoln for a
few days' visit with friends.
A. J. Nelson, who for sometime past
has been working as operator in the
main office at this place, has been
transferred to Deadwood as wire chief,
The promotion for Mr. Nelson was
well earned as he was considered ono
of the best, operators on this division.
He will move his family there in the
near future.
Machinist F. A. Eckerson will leave
in a few days for a two weeks' visit
with relatives in Beardstown, Ills.

Tuesday morning for Edgemont to as
sume the duties as chief clerk -in the
roundhouse office.
Fireman B. L. Griswold left Tues
day afternoon for his home in Gales
burg, Ills., and will later, move his
family to this place.
Operator S. D. Irwin, who was call
ed to his home in Shelbina, Mo., last
week on account of the death of bus
father, returned to Alliance Tuesday.
