Several boys out in the neighborhood of the cemetery cast of town that afternoon while attemp ting to smoke a rabbit or gopher out of a hole in the ground, set fire to the grass with the result that several miles of territory was burned over to the cast and considerable loss in the way of hay, farming machinery and other articles. A number of people from town hurried to the fire, but with the wind that was blowing at tho time, little could bo done to stem its pro grcss. The fire reached the sand hills, where it finally spent its force. Better be Careful. f There have been a number of fires started lately in the alleys and not properly watched by those setting them 6ut, and some were started by children. This is a very dangerous practice, es pecially during such windy weather, and a big fire is likely to result from such carelessness.
