John Wildy and family went to Lincoln
Tuesday night. They expect to make their
home there.
Miss Bertha Burleigh had a rib dislocat
ed at the Wildy party Tuesday evening by
tailing against a fence.
Charles Shindler has bought a residence
lot just south of H. R. Green's home
and may build thereon this fall.
A ball game between Hemingford and
Marple is scheduled for Saturday followed
by a public dance in the evening,
Eugene Kemble of Waverly, Neb , an
old friend and class mate ot K, L. Pierce
visited with him last Thursday and Friday.
H. H. Pierce's farm house was struck
by lightning Saturday night and damaged
about $50 worth. The family narrowly
escaped serious injury.

Harve Allison and Mrs. W. D. Johnson
were called to Missouri Wednesday by the
very serious illness of their father Col. Al
lison who visited them here last spring.
A party in honor of Misses Lena and
Ruby Wildy took place on C. J. Wildy's
pleasant lawn Tuesday evening. A very
enjoyable evening was spent in games etc.,
not forgetting a lunch neatly served.
Miss Mamie Miller gave a reception for
Miss Ruby Wildy on Wednesday evening.
The yard was tastefully decorated with
lapenese lanterns. Games were played
both in and out of doors and late in the
evening a nice lunch was served.
An evidece of the returning prosperity
in this village is the increasing number of
transfers of real estate principally lots
which is going on. Seventy-five percent
of all the lots in town have changed hands
at least once in the last 160 days.

Orvilie Hulbert was attacked this week

Mrs. Alcott, daughter, two sons and a
nephew, from Roundtop ranch in Sioux
county attended Sunday school and preach
ing at Canton Sunday.
The heavy rains which fell this week
has caused the farmers to say "it is enough
for this season" and are praying that the
frost wiH stay off till October 1.

isation of the assessment of this county,
it appears that said state boatd has in
creased the assessment of the county;
it appears that said state board has in
creased the assessment of mules, jacks
and jennies ten per cent.
It further appears to tho board that
the total valuation of all taxable prop
erty of said county of Box Butte is

The county board of equalization
now having been in session more than
three days and less than twenty days
and having disposed of nil complaints
relative to assessment of real und per
sonal property that have been presented
before them the board proceeded to
levy the necessary taxes for the ensu
ing year of 1905.
It is ordered by the board that there
be levied on each dollar of assessed
valuation of property in said county the
following county taxes, tow it:
County general fund ... . 9 mills
County road fund t mill
County bridge fund 3 mills
It is ordered by the board that there
be levied against the taxable property
in each school ' district for the main
tenance and support of such schools
the amount of taxes or rate of taxation
certified the county clerk by the proper
school officers and that the county clerk
extend such taxes in the manner provid
ed by law.
It is further otdered by the board
that there be levied against tho taxable
property in the city of Alliance nud the
village of Hemingford the amount of
taxes or rate of taxation certified to the
county clerk by the proper officers of
said city and village and that the coun
ty clerk extend such taxes,
it is further ordered by the board, that
for the purpose of paying interest on
bonds issued by the school districts
hereinafter named and nlso for the
purpose of creating a sinking fund to
'meet the payment thereof, there be
levied against the taxable property in
each of said school districts thn. rate of
taxation on each dollar's worth of as
sessed valuation as follows: .
