LYMAN COUNTY EXTENSION.
Tho Chicago, Mllwaukeo & St. Paul
Railway has decided upon an exten
sion of its lino from Chamberlain
west through Lyman County, opening
up a region of cheap lands, rich in
agricultural resources, and in which
thero Is already much deeded land,
also a largo acrcago that may bo had
under tho homestead law. Lyman
County Is In tho southern part of
South Dakota, adjoining tho Rosebud
Indian Reservation on tho north.
Tho soil of Lyman County is ono of
tho richest in tho state. It has pro
duced corn of nn excellent quality,
having taken first prize at tho Mitch
ell Corn Palaco during several of tho
past exhibits. It is well adapted to
tho growth of wheat, oats, barley,
speltz, and other small grains. Land
is selling now at tho rato of from $5
to $12 an acre, and as soon as the
railway extension is mado it Is safe
to say that such lands will incrcaso in
valuo from 100 to 200 por cent.
All that Lyman County has lacked
heretofore has been ability to get
rrodcts across tho Missouri river to
markets. Tho extension of tho Chi
cago, Mllwaukeo & St. Paul Railway
will solve that problem and will make
It ono of tho richest sections In tho
West.
