Engineer C. C. Smith of Alliance
is laying off on account 6f slight in
juries and has gone to Denver.
Lineman, N. Snyder of Alliance has
been transferred to Lincoln and will
work out of that city in the futuie.
N. K. Barntn.i, a mechanical expert
from the second-vice president's office
at Chicago, was in Alliance yester
day. Train No. 42 was about five hours
late into Alliance this morning on ac
count of a slight accident west of New
castle. The Burlington engine and pump
house at Hill City caught fire from
some unknown cause Monday and weie
totally destroyed.
Fireman A. H. Robbins and wife of
Alliance were called to Grand Island
on account of the serious illness of
Mr. Robbins' father.
Firoman J. M. Peterson was called
to Hildroth, Ncbr., this mottling on
account of the death of his mother
who died yestarday at that place.
H. G. Sturklc and Fred Kichstein
two mechanical department bowlots
wont to Denver this, morning to partici
pate in thu houling contest in that
city. .
Engines 1955, 19,50 and 1957 will be
received at Alliance within the next
weok and will be used out of bote on
freight. Those are new class R-4 en
gines. Assistant Superintendent J. C. Bird
hell returned this week from California
where he accompanied hie wife and
child a couple of vteeks ago. Mrs.
Mirdsell and child will remain in Cali
fornia tho balance of the whiter.
Chief dispatcher II. C. Holloway loft
on 41 Tuesday for Oregon, being called
to that state to attend the funeral of
his father who died in San Francisco,
Cal., Mondav. I lis remains, weie
atken tp Harrisburg, Oregon for burial.
A fieighl train from the west was
stilck in the snow near Vauce from
Monday nignt until Tuesday noon, and
as a result train No. 302 was late in
to Alliance, Tuesday and train No. 301
was about seven hours late leaving Al
liance. W. H. Piettyman agent at Mars
land has been transferred to Ellsworth
as agent. A. M. Bagley cashier at
Newcastle succeeds Mr. Prettyinan at
Maryland. R. E. Cozad who has been
agent at Ellsworth goes to Mullen at
agent.
P. S. Eustis, D. O. Ives, G. W.
Rhodes and L. W. Wakeley went over
the Wyoming district this week In
special tiain on a trip of inspection.
Tho train passed through Alliance this
11101 ning and went south to the Sterling
division.
Chief Clerk, F. W. Hasris left on
train No. 42 Tuesday morning to at
tend a meeting of thu advisory board
of the Burlington Relief Department.
Mr. Harris represents the Lincoln, Al
liance and Sheridan divisions at this
meeting.
