The hobos who were in the vreck of
Monday night celebrated their deliverance
in the usual style Tuesday. Hcmingford
has :2-foot sidewalks, but the walks were
not wide enough to hold a few of them.

who sold cattle this week to C U.
Johnston.
A number of ladies belonging to the
Progressive club went out to the lodence
ranch last Friday and were royally enter
tained. They assisted in the organization
of the Marple club, which follows the out
lines of the llemingford organization.
Don't forget the M. K. church ladies'
dinner on Thanksgiving day. The doings
will last all day and there will be enjoy
ment lor all. The young people will be
especially "in the swim." A fine supper
will also be served. Come and spend the
day.
A successful school for Catholic children
is being conducted here. A great uumoer
of bright faced boys and girls have been in
town recently whom we do not often see
here. '1 hey all seem very prompt in their
attendance and no doubt are learning
much of their religion. Let the good
work go on.

A wreck occurred bore Monday night
and a uumber of cars, iu which a labor
gang was domiciled, were derailed and all
broken up. A dead freight was on the
main line and a slock train which had the
right of way to Alliance crashed into it.
The engine of the stock train was derailed
after it plowed it:t way through eight cars.
It seems miraculous that none of the labc r
ers on the extra g-ng were killed or seri
ously injured. The only person who was
bruised up to any extent was tne extra
gang foreman. The doctor from Alliance
having this class of work to attend to came
and fixed him up. In a short time the
wreck was cleared, the debris being
burned,
The Ladies' Progressive club was enter
tained at the home of Mrs. lodence, north
east of town Friday, Nov. n. The Marple
ladies were there also and a most enjoy
able time is reported. An elaborate din
ner, consisting of turkey and all the ac
cessories, was served to about 35 guests.
It seemed that the gentlemen present en
joyed this meeting immensely and es-
peciallyat the table. Alter all prestnt nau
partaken of the bounteous repast, Mrs.
lodence led the way to the parlor, where
was rendered a most entertaining program.
Mrs. Dr. Fikner recited a pleasing selec
tion; Miss Basse read an instructive and
entertaining piece, as did Mrs. Clark Olds
and others. After the closing prayer by
Mr. Wilson of Marple. All returned to
their homes feeling that they had spent a
pleasant day. Those present from here
were Mr, and Mrs. Clark Olds, Mr. and
Mrs. H. Olds, Mrs. Eikner. Mrs. A. H.
Pierce, Miss Mary Basse and Misses
Blanche and Almeda Fosket.
