Mr. Morava, father of Anton Morava,
died at tlw home of the latter Tuesday
last at an advanced age.
Snow & Mareen have sold their ranch,
located seven miles west of town, to
Mr. Hichu, of Lusk, Wyo.
The greatei number of the mule pop
ulation of this place and vicinity are
courting in Chadron this week.
Luther Clark has the care of half a
dozen families while the husbands and
fathers are courting in Chadron this
week.
Sheriff Birdsall was down from Chad
ron the latter part of the week serving
subpoenas on many of the residents in
this place and vicinity.
The dramatic company is badly crip
pled by two of its members, Roy Richey
and Riley Huusaker, going away.
An effort is being made to mend the
gap and it is hoped that no permanent
injury to the troup will be sustained.
Orvill Wilson has been very ill with
sciatic rheumatism at the home of his
brother. Press, twenty miles west of
here.
Mrs. Eugene Kendtic was taken to
the hospital at Hot Springs Inst Friday.
She was accompanied by her husband
and Mrs. James Hollenrake. Mr. Ken
dric returned Monday and reports her
condition about the same as when she
left, the trip not having affected her
for the worse, as many feared it would.
A Pack Train to St. Louis.
Col. W. F. Cody and several promi
nent citizens of the vicinity of Cody
are makinu arrangements to send a
fully equipped pack train to the St.
Louis exposition as an advertisement of
Wyoming. Hon. O. P. Hanna has
been asked to take charge of the outfit.
Mr Hanna is unable to remain with the
outfit all the time it will be kept on the
exposition grounds, but he will probably
go to St. Louis to take part in the
demonstration on Wyoming Day, Julv
nth.
He will take his daughter, Miss
Mctle, with him. She and another
young lady from Cody, will be dressed
in corduroy suits and wide sombreros to
to represent the typical western cow
girl. It is believed that the pack train will
attract more attention than any other
attraction Wyoming could get up for
theWyoming Day celebration.
Governor Chatterton and his sts ff
will bo present, and the members of
the Wyoming Press association will
hold a reunion there at that time.
The crowds will probably know that
Wyoming is on the map, Wyoming
Day at least. Sheridan Post.
Cornstalks, hundreds of them are be
ing used today for making paper, and
the growth of the new industry is prov
ing a boom to the western farmer as
.well as to the man who conceived the
project. Both the shell and the pith
of the sfalk have been used in several
mills with considerable success, the
machinery neccessary for separating
them having been introduced about a
year ago. Some Illinois farmers have
had their fields harvested for them by a
company, which hauls its machine to a
farm, shucks the corn, deposits die
grain in boxes, bundles the strlks into
great rolls rndv for shipment, and
leases the husks and fodder prepared for
use as cattle feed on the farm all in a
fraction of the time it formerly required
the laud owner to gather in his crop.
The fanner pays the machine man Si
an acre, and the latter can clean up six
acros a day. The stalks become the
property of the company and are ship
ped to its paper mill. It is estimated
that u mill with a daily capacity of 100
tons of the finished will require 60,000
tons of stalks annually, and that the
husking machine some day will be per
fact so that it will cover "Tifteon acres a
