He never, by any chance, mentions the tariff in connection with trusts, and is very particular in many other respects not to offend uiem. If he cm, by refus ing; ti discuss the tariff, postpone the evil i'a"s for trusts he will be their best f!nd. He is doing his part w?bly. Will they show their apprccla im In 1904? Of course! A Few Truct Itsmt. Almost every trade paper of to-day Is full of Information about the trusts and advancing prices. Thus, taking up the Iron Age of Sept. 4, 1902, we find on page 47, that manufacturers of iron ware have revised their prices, and as a result pails are quoted 1 per gross higher and wash tubs 25 cents to 50 cents higher per dozen. "The manufacturers W scythes, who have been wornlng in harmony for some time, have agreed upon a uniform schedule of prices for next season, whlc" may he in a gen eral way referred to as about 50 cents In advanco of the price for that season Just closed. It is thought probable that prices will be well maintained and perhaps advanced, especially If the p'ans that are under consideration loo' - to the consoli dation of the odj ..ol Interest are effected." It is stated ' z'. tho American Fork and Hoe company, which Includes the principal manufacturers of steel goods, has not yet announced its prlcrs. "An advance of twenty cents per hundred pound has recently bceu mado in the price of wrought iron washers." An advance of 2 a ton has been made in the price of sash weight in tho New York market, making the present price $25. "Further steps are being taken with a view to tbe harmonizing of our window glass interests with a pos sibility of success." Theso aio only a few Items on one viaxo of tho Iron Age.
