'Every voter- in Box Butte county can vote for county commissioner. ( Judge Sullivan has made a record as supreme jifdgo that certainly entitles him to re-election. Ho is a man thiJ corpora tions'do not own or control. It is not the desire of The Hkrald to indulge in personalities in the judicial campaign. It is sufficient to state that Messrs Wcstover and Harrington, the fusion candidates, can well stand upon their official records and let the voters of this district decide as to their merits. Immediately after the republican convention held at Valentine the Al liance Times said: "Concerning the action of the republi can Judicial convention wo have nothing to say." What caused the Times editor to change his mind and say something about the republican nominees ? Un doubtedly, if Ellis would give the reason it would be interesting reading. D'JVI), Our Candidates. The candidates on the fusion ticket for Box Iiutte couuty are so well known that it Would seom superfluous to speak of their qualifications. Sam Smyser has proven himself to bo a competent and obliging public servant and therefore ought to be re-elected. Charlie Ilrennan, candidate for treasur er, is well known in business circles in Al liance and is popular with all classes. He has all the qualifications needed for the office and wo expect his election by a large majority. Ira Reed, thanks to the Times, will re ceive more votes than any candidate on the ticket. The best proof of Reed's ability as sheriff is the fact that lawless ness has been kept at a minimum during the last two years. It is preferable to prevent crime than to punish it. Judge Spacht certainly deserves re election from the voters of the county be cause of the ability and tact he has dis played in his office as county judge. J. W. Uaumgardner is depending on his record for re-election1 as county super intendent. Under his supervision the county schools have been raUed to a high standard of proficiency. His efforts de serve encouragement. The knowledge of property values pos sesed by A S. Reed, equips him in an exceptional way for tho office of county assessor in which an equitable mind and well balanced judgment is required to give a fair deal to all the tax payers of the county. Raed is the right man foV this office. John P. Hazard seeks re-election as county surveyor. He is well known in the couuty and has had many years ex perience in that line of work. Claude Humphrey, candidate for coro ner, has been a resident of Alliance for a number of years- He managed the un dertaking business for Tom Heck and is now running an establishment for him self. He would fill the office of coroner creditably, Frank Caha, candidate for commission er, is well and favorably known through out the the county, having already served one term as commissioner. He has shown his ability in that office for the welfare of the tax payers of the county. He knows the needs of all parts of the county and is deservedly popular. We have no doubt that the voters will show their apprecia tion by electing him to a second term. Sturdy Australian Child.
