Being off our usual beat last week, no news was sent, for which we have had to take several severe scoldings. There has been been some very sharp trading going ou this week in the way of horse swapping. Arthur Bass trad ed his fine saddle mare and colt to B. C. Curtis for a good driving horse. Rev. Post is up from Carpenter again this week holding meetings for a few -evenings. Mrs. W. A. Randall was in Ilcming- ford on a trading tour Friday. O. H. Clayton was In Hemingford F riday for a load of salt for his ranch. Otis Bass left this week with his household goods and kitchen furniture for the ranch he has leased ou the Runningwatcr. His cattle were taken down the first of the week, R. L. Sliet lcr assisting him. Mrs. Jacob Shetler of Lawn precinct was the guest of Mrs. J. V. Broshar Saturday and Sunday and attended religious services at the church on Sunday. Mr. Tyler and family of Marsland were visitors otv the home of Emmet Johnson Sunday. We have the consent of our minds to believe that all of the good looking schoolma'ams who teach the school in district No. 31 have more narrow es capes thau anybody's people. Last Sunday morning while Miss Mary Herncall was on her way home from church her horse lost control of him self and fell down, shaking Miss Mary up in good shape, but not disabling lUAjijtLbut what she waa able to attend chu icT. ou n d ay night. Fred Hadley is beautifying his home by setting out shade trees and shrub bery. Sam Trenkle Is farming with his uncle, Fred Bauer this season. - .v Grandma Bauer is visiting with her .daughter, Mrs. Jesse, for a- few.days.. '" Charlie Heath and Miss- Lena Bauer spent Sunday afternoon with Joe and Geneva West. Mrs. Sadler, formerly Mrs. Kroesing of this place, was calling on old neigh bors last Saturday ard Sunday. Sunday school at Fairview is well at tended and quite an interest is mani fested. That is right. All turn out, put your shoulder to the wheel and keep it rolling and we will have a good school. R. II. West, while in town Roosevelt day, had the misfortune to lose his pocketbook containing about SIS. Miss Delia Strong, who is teaching in district No. 3, intends to go to Reno Saturday to visit her parents. Miss West will fill her position during her absence, R. II. West, our assessor, is busy these days finding out what the tax payers of Box Butte precincfare worth. W. I. Lorance has put up a new windmill. The prediction we made a few weeks ago that something would occur in the near future worthy of mention hus -come to pass. Two of our well known jroung people, Charlie Trenkle and Patty Kohrman, united their fortunes for the life journey last Monday. The bridegroom is the son of Ferdiuand Trenkle, one of the early settlers of this country and Is one of our most industrious young men and is bound to succeed. The bride is the estimable daughter of John Kohrmun, also one of the early settlers. In the evening u goodly number of their friends gath ered at their home and after playing a few selections on tin horns and cow bell, the kind of instruments they are most familiar with, Charlie appeared upon the scone and passed around the cigars, after which the crowd dis persed, wondering where they would next enjoy similar privileges under like circumstances.
