Think It Over !
Are you going to stay home all winter, or will
you seek the comforts and benefits which the de
lightful, semi-tropical climate of the South affords?
Geographically, the South is not as far away as it
seems, but climatically ( in winter Jit is about as far
away as it could be-and in the right direction, too
--for balmy breezes, sunny skies, moonlit bays, trop
ical flowers and foliage are the order of the day in
winter time in the Southland.
And, those who pack their grips and bid farewell
to the North at this time, reap rich rewards and
return with a full realization of the real value of a
winter's vacation in that romantic, historic and
beautiftil land south of the Mason & Dixon line.
Instead of saying to yourself--"I wish I were in
Dixie," why don't you go South this winter? The
cost is low-perhaps not as much as you thought it
would be, when the price of things generally is con
sidered, and you deduct the cost of staying at home.
Tickets covering tours to Florida, the South Atlan
tic and Gulf Coast states, Texas and Cuba are now
on sale. You can go one way and return another;
there is splendid train service via Denver, Kansas
City, St. Louis and Chicago; liberal stop-over priv
ileges, final return limit May 31, 1922.

Good storis of their first exper

n the reports. "Why I am Glad I
Became a Member 'of the Garment
Vlaking Club," by Harriet Pilgrim of
he Wide Awake Club of South Sioux
City:
"For the following reasons. First,
t teaches me how to sew and we
learn .new stitches on each garment
ve made. The different garments
nake the work more interesting and
e try to improve our sewing on
tach new article. Secondly we have
toctal times and demonstrations which
ielp to keep us interested. The
lemotwtrations create rivalry, bo
och one works hard so that they
night win ,a prize. We meet at diff
rent home every two weeks, and our
eaders, Mrs. McBeath and Mrs.
loyce, meet with us. They help us
ut out the garments, show us how
o make the new stitches and also
ell us in what way 'wo might have
aiprovecl ous work. Then she watch
9 closely to see if we carried out I Year,
the suggestions she made. We 'try
to have ous garments finished by the
next meeting and then with the help
of Mrs. McBeath and Mrs. Royce, we
discuss our work. I did not win a
prize at our contest but I feel that
my time was not wasted, because I
learned a lot about sewing and maybe
what I have horned this summer will
u.'lp me win 1. prize some other time.
So if we have our club next summer
I will be glad to join again.

Mrs. S. A. Sanson, Dakota City, has
found the following method of clari
fying bacon fat very satisfactory. It
will not only remove the character
istic flavor ilnd odor but will also
whiten the product. Mix rriilk, pre
ferably sour milk and cook slowly.
Let fat cool and then skim. This
bacon fat can then be used as any
ther fat.
Mrs. W. II. Ryan, Homer, finds that
rollers on a wood box is a most con
venient addition to any box. A small
sompartment at the side for-kindling
is also a great time saver.
