In making the Roosovolt Memorial Association drive, the committee is not really making tho drive for funds. They are making it for membership in the Roosevelt Mem orial Association. The small amount subscribed towards erecting a Mem orial in Washington, purchasing of Sagamoro Hill and establishing a National Park at Oyster Bay, and establishing a foundation for the teaching of Americanism, is volun tary on the part of each member, who of course must subscribe a small amount. Entrance was gained by taking oh" a screen in the rear of tho building and prying up a win dow sash. Nothing was molested in the bank proper, but tho vault door was unlocked by working the combination, and eveiy safety de posit box in tho vault was rifled and tho contents not desired by the bur glars was left scattered over tho vault floor. Tho burglars evidently were looking for coupon liberty bonds, jind money, as all registered bonds wero loft scattered about tho floor. Several gold watches and pieces of jewelry were unmolested. So far known Ilttlo of value was obtained by the thlevos, as Mr. Adair, presi dent of tho bank, had taken tho pre caution several months ago toplaco all bonds, csnecjnlly the coupon bonds, left in his care, In n Sioux City bank vault. Not tho slightest clue was left by tho burglars for tho officers to work on. When they loft they cvon closed tho window and re placed tho screen which they had re moved when ontcrinir tho buildlnc. Tho bank had been open some little time in tho morning before It was discovered that a robbery had been pulled off, and not until ono of the employes unlocked the vault, which tho burglars had locked again before leaving, was it discovered that tho bank had been entered. This year's potato crop has been reduced greatly, compared with early estimates. Early potatoes were lightly planted and tho yield was cut down by excessive rains in tho south cast. Lato potatoes wero planted in larger acreages than in any season during tho past seven years except 1917 and 1918, but dry weather cut down tho yield and slzo of the west ern potato crop, while tho eastern crop was somewhat reduced by blight. rot and insects.
