each school house in tho county at 2 p. m. on Friday, March 22, 1918. Theso
meetings haVo bcon called by War Savings Director Ward M. Burgess,
apjaoikfed under tho authority of tho Secretary of tho United States Treasury,
and pursuant to'tho'proclamation of tho Governor of tho State of Nebraska.
Tho school modorator in rural districts will preside at each school houso
meeting, aqd the school director will keep a record of tho proceedings. Tho
director will rofeortrtho names of all persons present and tho amount of War
Savings Staavjos subscribed for bythom. Ho will also report the names of
kriy atarattfc- persons and tho namos of thoso persons who refuse or neglect to ,
gttbsoriUb-atid thVf reasons for so doing.
Waci, Savings Stamps (which aro United States Government Bonds tho
samp. of 1iborj.y fronds'), can bo paid for during any month in tho year 1918,
Tuitfitiistfntonded'that subscriptions will bo signed for them on March 22.
Tho price of each War Savings Stamp depends upon the month during
rthkh itis'1bought. During March each Stamp will cost $4.14. In Aprikeach
Stamp will, cost $4)16, and so on, ono cent more each month during 1918.
On January 1st, 192"3, tho Government of the United States will redeqm all
War Savings Stamps at $5.00 each, no matter during which month in 1918
thoy were bought. They cost loss during tho early months in 1918 than dur
ing tho later months because the person who buys earlier has loaned hi
money to tho Government for a longer time than if he should buy later.

Stamps oxceeding $1,000 maturity value. War Savings Stamps,1 howover, may,
be purchased in tho namo of other members of the family, including minor
children.
Tho monioy invested in War Savings Stamps is not a gift, or a donation,
but is a loan to tho Government. It will all bo paid back with 4 compound
interest. If, because of some serious financial reverses, or calamity, it should
bo necessary to get your money beforo January 1, 1923, you may do so by
giving ton dayoJ notice to any Money Order postmaster, in which case you
can got what you paid for tho Stamps, with intorcst to date of payment. Tho
Stamps aro tax free ; when registered at tho postofflco they aro insured against
loss; thoy aro booked by all tho property in tho United States; they cannot
fall below par in valuo; they aro tho most convenient and best paying in
vestment over offered by our Gkwirnment.
Tho Goverjimonfc of tho United States oxpeots every school district and
county to subscribe its quota of War Savings Stamps.
It is to bo hoped that tho subscriptions taken at tho meetings in this
county will show that the pooplo hero aro loyal American citizens to whom!
our Government, in this time of need, does not call in vain.

'J'ho allotment for each school district In tho county will bo statoil at
tho opening of tho meeting In each. school house. Tills allotment is
based on iiHsuscd valuation. In order to ralso tho total amount required
from this county, It will bo necessary that each School District subscribe
tho amount allotted to It. This will imposo no burden upon'imyono in
tho District If encih person does his duty, and tho school district officers
havo been instructed to insist upon tho total amount allotcd to each
district being subscribed boforo tho meetings nro adjourned.
In tho following towns in Dakota county, instead of meeting in tlio m
. school houses, tho citizens of tho school district will gather at. tho
following places: Dakota City, Court, llouso Hall; Jackson, St.Patrlck'H
