Low Summer Fares With
drawn September 30th
To Eastern Cities and Resorts: The entire scheme of eastern
summer faro will be available during September, with return
limits good until October 31st; this is the last opportunity of
the year to visit the East at reduced rates.
To the Pacific Coast: The low rates circuit tours are also
available prior to September 30th; these are much lower than
the winter fares. Our Scenic Colorado California route is
especially attractive during the Autumn.
To Western Resorts: You can go to Colorado and ICstes Park
at very cheap fares during this month. Jvstes Park in Sep
tember is an ideal place for a "rapid-health-come-baek."
The big National Parks will be open until September 15th. The
Black Hills ate available throughout the month.
The ranches about Sheridan, Ranchester and Codv will all be
open and can take excellent care of you, after the departure
of the mid-summer crowds.
Send for publications descriptive of any trip yon have in mind
and let us help you.

Lutheran Church Notes
DAKOTA CITY-HALCM
HliV. C. It. LOWB.
On Friday night at Emmanuel
church Misa Joanna Wunderlich will
give a Missionary address using- her
lantern slides. Do not mistake this
for a "movie." She writes she has
about 70 slides of our Lutheran work
atJuntur. India, which she uses.
This many makes a very good even
ing's entertainment and is instruc
tive. There will he no admittance
charges, but a missionary offering
will bo made.
On Thursday night Miss Wunder
lich will speak at the Salem church
i and use the stercopiician. All are
cordially invited to attend these ad
dresses, and we especially invite our
friends of St. John's church.
The lantern used is loaned to us
by Mr. Young and belongs to the
agricultural department of the state
university.
It is the time again for the every
member canvas of the Salem church.
The first Sunday in October has been
set by the council for this canvas.
Last year when we began the agita
tion it was a new thing for us, it
took a good deal of explanation and
some urging. We had only the ex
perience of other churches. It is
different this year. We have seen
the budget and every member can
vas working in our own hands for a
ye,ar and know what it has done for
us. Ask the men who had the finan
cial affairs of the church in hand and
see what they say of it. Don't you
appreciate notbeingasked for money
liy the officers when you are at
church. The old times when there
were bills and no money have not
had a look-in this year. Conditions
are reversed, there is some money
and no bills. A blessed condition
for a church to be in. That is how
it works. You want to be in on
such a scheme. It dosn't work a
hardship on any. Use the monthly
payment plan as some do, or make
payments on a certain date. Think
the matter oyer, talk it with your
wife, expect to see the canvasers at
your house. We know if we have
the church who wouldn't have it
wo must support it. It is yours and
does not exist for the preacher; he
exists because of your church. You
not only expect to support it, but
you want to support it. Meet the
canvasers as if you wanted and ex
pected to meet them. They are the
servants of the church and that
without pay. You owe it to the
church and to them to make this
work pleasant for them.
Our church year in the churches
closes this month and there are some
benevolences in arrears yet. We
ask those who are in arrears to pay
thdir apportionment that we may go
to Synod with our full quota. We
have an excess in some things but
ought to pay fully-on all. We will
do this.
The Sunday school at Salem voted
to have a special Christmas service.
Mr. Fred Culbertson was elected
last Sunday as a delegate to Synod
which meets early in October at
Grand Island.
