fering from a ruptured artery, caused
from heavy lifting, Ho left him
much improved.
Gas Stromberg, a veteran traveling
salesman of Sioux Oity, la, who has
made this locality for tho past twenty
five years, shot himself last Wednes
day at his home in Sioux Oity, Dis
pondency, due to drink, is attributed
as the cause of the rash act.,
Another important farm sale was
dosed tho past week when Win H
Dierking disposed of the Ohas Bryant
farm a half mile north of Dakota Oity
for $18,000. He purchased the farm
just a year ago, paying $11,000 for it,
and cleaned up $2,000 besides the use
of tho place ono year. Ohas Buokley,
the purchaser, comes from Holstein,
Iowa, and will take possession the first
of March,

Louis Kilmer, of Winnebago, was
operated on at a Sioux Oity hospital
the 11th irist, and ia recovering nicely.
Mrs Kilmer and daughter are visiting
here at the Wm Olapp home while Mr
Kilmer is convalescing.
Francis O Brown, the 19-months old
daughter of Mr and .Mrs George E
Brown, of near Goodwin, Neb, died in
a Sioux Oity hospital last Friday of
pneumonia. The funeral was held
from tho family residence Saturday
afternoon.
M O Ayres, and his two sons-in-law
and daughters. Geo W Garter and wife
and II B 8keen and wife, loft Satur
day evening for California to spend a
few weeks touring that state. Mr
Ayres shipped his six-cylinder Knox
auto to that stato, whioh they will use
in their travels when they arrive
there.
A petition is being circulated among
the voters to call an eleotion to vote
bonds for a system of waterworks for
Dakota Oity. Bonds in the sum of
$10,000, it is estimated, will be suffi
cient to install the system. The deep
well at the Wm Olapp residence has
been tendered to the town for use in
connection with the plant if js install
ed.
The Minnesota advertising car, sent
out by the state board of immigration
of that state, was sidetracked in the
Bnrlington yards in this plncu all day
Monday, where many went to view
the display of grain, fruit and other
products. While tho display wbb fine,
end well worth going to see, it did not
particularly attract tho people of this
looality toward our northern sister
state. A display of Dakota county
products, such as was made nt the
corn palaces in tbo days gone by,
wonld lay in tho shade anything of the
kind ever brought from Minnesota.
