Mrs Dorothy Harris, ono of tho well
known and highly respeoted pioneer
ladies of Dakota county, passed away
Thursday ovoning, November 18, 1913,
at hor homo throo miles southeast' of
Homor at tho ago of 73 years.
For tho past year Mrs Harris has
nut boon in robust health but only
within tho past two mouths was her
condition considered critical.
Mrs Harris wbb born Juno 7, 1840,
in Derbyshire, England, and in 1545
with her parouts, Mr and Mrs 'John
Smith, oamo to Amorioa and sottlod
in Erio county, Ohio, whero thoy lived
fifteen years. In 18C0 with her pa
rents sho oamo to Dakota county,
Nobraskn, Tho trip was mado by
team.
On November 20, 18G0, sho wsb mar
ried to Josoph Harris, To them was
bom twelve ohildron, ten of whom aro
still living: Mrs Maria Connors, of
St Paul. Minn; Mrs Dol Sanford, of
Dakota City, Nob; Mrs John H Har
ris, of Horsey, wis; Joseph H Harris,
of Emerson, Neb; Mrs William Manoy,
Jurs Josopu Johns, aush Johanna E
Harris, Gcorgo 11 Harris, John B Har
ris aud Bobort E Harris, all of Homer,
