The Curg Ayres family were releas
ed from quarantine last Saturday, the
civse of infantile paralysis at their home
having almost entirely recovered.
Mrs Jas Fisher and little son, were
up from Walthill the latter part of
Inst week and spent the day with Mrs
Fisher's parents, Mr and Mrs Fred
Dnensiog.
Joseph and Tom McElhiuney and
Tom Braucbercame up from Lyons
last Thursday for a few days fishing.
Their wives came the following day

George Lahrs, the ten year-old son
of Wm Lahrs and wife, was taken se
riously ill Sunday with infantile paral
ysis, and his recovery is considered
doubtful by the attending physicians.
Wm Cordingly and daughter, Belle,
arrived here from Toronto, Canada
this week, and will spend a fow weeks
visiting relatives, the Orrs. Mr Cor
dingly is a son-in-law of the late Jos
Orr.

Rockwell grove west of Homer. It is
expected to make this an annual event,
and not only those bearing the name
of Rockwell are included, but all who
are iu any way related to them. At a

well was chosen president of the socie
ty and Geo R Rockwell, secretary,
Sept, 5th to 9th are the dates of the
Statb Fair at Lincoln, and the 1910
fair is the greatest ever attempted to
to be held in the state. The attrac
tions comprise the best races, four
flights each day by the Wright aero
planes, (our great concert eacu day by
Lombardos symphony Band and
Grand Opera Concert Company of 68
people, the great Patersoa Shows and
night eutertaiumeQts consisting of
three running races, concert, vauile
ville and a stupendous fireworks dis
play on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. In
addition to - the amusement features
there will be the best agricultural ez
hibit shown at any fair in the world in
1910 and the 2nd best live stock show
These facts should appeal to the pride
of every loyal Nebraska citizen. Let's

The downtown district of Sioux City
will present a gala appearance during
the week of the Interstate Live Stock
Fair, September 19 to 24. With char
acteristio energy the merchants of the
old Corn Palace town have raised
fund of fl,000 for street decorations
and illumination. Massive arches of
weloome will great the arrivals at all
railway statious. At every internee
tion of streets iu the business district
there will be a monster ear of corn,
really amounting to a pillar, reared at
each of the four corners, and from the
tops 01 these ears to the ears acrosB
the street festoons of elecetrio lights
will swing. Pedestals of corn, fifteen
feet in height, will be erected at inter
vals along the streets. Large Ameri
can flags will will be hung, eight and
twelve to the block, from the trolley
wire supports. The streets will be
brilliantly lighted at night and bands
of musio will play every night and
morning.

The Bell Telephone company is pat
ting in a new copper lead line from
Newcastle, Nebr. to Sioux City, which

George T Woods, Barney Gribble
and George W Sheibley attended the
Old Settlers reunion at Tekamah Wed
nesday. They report a very pleasant

Dana Sible, who forged two checks
on the Bank of Dakota County at
Jackson last winter, using Elmer
Blessing's name thereto and securing
about $ 150, was captured last Satur
day at Melrose.'Minn, and on Sunday
was brought to Sioux City and turned
over to Sheriff Rockwell who lodgod
him in jail here to await trial. After
passing the forged checks on Elmer
Blessing, for whom Sible worked last
fall during corn husking, bo disap
peared and for six months search
was kept up for him before be was
finally located in the Minnesota town.
John Li llazlegrove was deputized
and sent to Melrose, Minn, to arrest
ud bring him back, but when he ar
rived thero Sible had ' disappeared .
The officers there were placed on the
lookout and when he finally drifted
back the arrest was made by the chief
of police, at whose houso Sible had
boarded on his former visit to the
town. Frank Hicks, step-father of
the accused man arrived here from
Moline, 111, and is making en effort to
settle the case out of oourt, but in the
bseuce of Banker Ed T Kearney, who
was victimized in the deal, nothing
as yet has been done. Mr Kearney
left last week for St Cloud Auun, witb
his family, making the trip by auto,
and has not returned yet.

Interstate Fair Notes.
The interstate Live Stock Fair at
Sioux City will have a great machine
ry show this year. The spaoe allotted
to the manufacturers of machinery is
larger than ever before, yet every foot
is taken and the fair people were com
pelled to turn down a request for spuco
from one of the formost manufactures
of the country. There simply was no
room left. The automobile display
w ill bo correspondingly large,
This year Saturday will be Antonio
bile Day and the parade of decorated
auto's will be one of the star features
of the week, taking rank in a specta
oulur way with the great parade of
premium winning livestock on iriday.
In addition to the parade there will be
automobile races.
The railroads wero a trifle slow in
granting roduoed rates to the state
fuirs this year, but they came across
early and in fine spirit, as though it
afforded them pleasure, to the Inter
state Live Stock Fair in Sioux City
the week ol Meptember 19. The In

low rates it always had and the rail
roads are going to put on more eicur
sion traius than ever before.
