Iam glad he sn't. If the Lord is on the aide of a person hard-hoarted enough to torture harmless and iuoffensive frogs and minnows, say twenty of them for eTery fish taken out of the lake. I don't waot Dim on my aide while indulging In such cruelty. How "tenderheart ed" girls and women can snore a sharp fish hook through the back of a pretty minnow or the head of a scared little frog, and then watch the stiller- ing, dying things for an Lour, in hopes nearly always hopes of getting a fish, is incomprehensible to a sane mind. If the Lord Las anything to do with it I've always wondered why he didn't sink the boat and send the human bnllies of the minnows and frogs down clear to bell, with a devil's prong to catch them on either side 01 the neck as they enter the fire box. Sioux City Journal, 1st: A boat club with a membership drawn , from the clubs now maintaining houses on the Big Sioux river is one of the possi bilities for Crystal lake next year. The site spoken of in conection with suoh a club is Island beach. The agi tation for a house started with mem bers of the old clubs and has been gaining many backers. Tbe fact tl at crowds of the former river adherents have been making two and three trip weekly to the lake and found none of the convenionoea afforded at the club houses on the Big Sioux river gave rise to the talk. Boosters for the club house hope to have the matter of or ganization well nnder way in the fall so that work can be stared on the lake front next spring. The attractiveness of the lake, coupled with better rail accomodations, has cut down the at tendance at Riverside in a marked de gree. Bathing parties have fouud the bathing beach worth while, and the fact that the beach tuns far out before any stepoff is reached removes the dan ger that mams uatuiug in tne uig Sioux river. The movement to buy up frontage property on Island beach hai been so strong that on Saturday Frank S Wagner purchased the last lot in the platted portion ef the lake front. A site for the talked of clubhouse could be secured on the frontage not platted. The Sunday crowds at the lake have been large, and even on the week days the beach draws good attendance. The boosters for the club offer as roa son why such a clubhouse would draw well the mattor of delusiveness which now is secured at Riverside through the clubhouses. Travel to Crystal lake yesterday was the heaviest in the history of the 8ioux City Service com pany. It is estimated that 2000 per son b wure at the lake. Many did n it seoure transportation by the olectrio lines, as there were carriages and an tomobiles going there iu a steady stream.
