Mr. Will Stull has returned from New York.
The members of the Whist club were delightfully entertained by
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Holmes on Friday evening. Those present were:

A few friends and relatives of Dr. and
Mrs. H. S. Jones were bidden to 312
South Eighteenth street last Wednes
day, Dec. 26th, to witness the marriage
of Mary Ames Jones and Clinton Hans
ford Lee, Dr. E. H. Curtis, of First
- '' Presbyterian Church officiating. Palms.
smilax, white roses and pinks formed the arch above the bridal par
ty and a profusion of yule-tide greens from the Sharon gardens of
California hung in festoons upon the walls. The bride was robed in
creamy white with high corsage, accorJeon plaitings, sleeves, bouf
fant and pearl ornaments. She was "given away" by her father
Dr. H. S. Jones, the ceresaony according with the ritual of the Epis
copal church, with musical accompaniments from Mendelssohn and
Lohengren. After the wedding breakfast appropriate toasts were
offered to the bride and groom by Prof. J. A. Barrett of the State
University and Mr. Frank Askine, business manager of the Lee Co.
The ceremony of cutting the bride's cake which contained the cir
clet of gold so coveted by maid and lover was opened by the bride,
each guest in turn hoping for the prize. Dr. Curtis, the happy find
er, presented the ring to his lady at table, Miss Gertrude Marsland.
Miss Jones received her education in the schools of Erie and Phila
delphia, Pa., Lincoln, Neb., and Grand Rapids, Mich. Her sunny
disposition and kindness of heart have won her hosts of friends
The groom k president of the Lee Broom & Duster Co., operating
factories in Davenport, la, and Lincoln, and is well known in social
and business circles. Mr. and Mrs. Lee left via the Rock Island
route for Davenport, Chicago, Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne and
will be at home to their friends at 1914 E street after Febuary 4
1895.
Miss Florence Putman k spending her vacation with her mother.
Mks Ella Raymond has returned from Cincinnati, where she has
been attending school.
The Hall in the Grove met at the home of Dr. Sabin, 1118 H
street on Friday evening.
Mr. Phillip L. Wing departed Sunday for New York, where he
will make hk future hoaae.
Mks Kennedy, of Chicago, who has been the guest of Mrs. Weir
returned to her home Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. L. 8: Kelley and son of Oregon are visiting Col. and
Mrs. J. J. Kelley.
Mrs. Charles A. Keith and daughter Lunette, of Chicago, are
spending the holidays with Mrs. Keith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.

Miss Cora Talbot has gone to Galesburg, 111.
L'Amueement club will receive at the home of Miss Heaton, 1106
E street, New Year's day from 3 to 8 o'clock. The members of this

Miss Sadie Burnham, who has been attending school at Andover,
Mass, k spending her vacation at home.
Miss Maud Burr has returned after spending several pleasant
weeks with friends in St Louis.
One of the prettiest parties that has ever been given by Pleasant
Hour club took place at the Lincoln hotel on Friday evening. There
was a general holiday flavor to the function that was quite facinat
ing, and there was also an abundance of feminine beauty, grace and
charm that was a superier attraction in itself, brightening the scene
more than the fairest flowers. About thirty couple participated in
the grand march.
The marriage of Miss Carrie Cheese man of thk city and Mr.
Harry Ganson of Omaha was solemnized at the residence of Dr. W.
M. Knapp on Christmas day.
Hon. J. G. Tate and a party of friends took dinner at the Lindell
on Christmas.
Miss Lucy Griffith entertained a few friends on Christmas.
The Courier's unique voting contest came to an end Monday,
Christmas, Eve. and The Courier office at the closing 5 to 6 pre
sented a most animated appearance. Champions of the leading con
tests were present determined to see the fight out to a finish and the
unexpected appearance of a dark horse almost at the very close gave
a very decided interest to the contest Miss Rachel Brock whose
name had not hitherto figured captured the first prize, 1250, there
being 19,000 votes cast for her, Miss Effie Steen received the second
prize she had 14,961 votes, while Mks Carrie Wasmer, of Grand
Island, secured the third prize of $100 with 11,900 votes.
The members of the Princeton Glee club stopped at the Lincoln
during their stay in the city.
C. P. A. Clough spent Christmas in Topeka, Kas.
Clem Chase of the Omaha Excelsior was at the Lincoln Monday
Miss Fritza Barnard of Omaha was the guest of Mr. A. B. Cof
froth during the week.
Mr. and Mrs. John B. Wright are in Chicago.
Mrs. Charles Robinson, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. B
Wright, returnei to Chicago Monday.
The contest was a succes in every particular. It was entered into
with much spirit and many hundreds of new subscribers were add
ed to The Courier's lists.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Cox and daughter Mabel are vkiting friends in
Kansas City.
Miss Henrietta Hawley k spending the holidays in Nebraska City.
Miss Winnifred Norval, who has been attending school in Knox
ville, 111., k spending her vacation with her parents, Judge and Mrs.
Norval.
A. Koch Andriano, of Omaha, spent Christmas with friends in thk
