It was a full dress affair throughout the mili tary bodies appeared in full dress and V-T' the ladies and gentlemen attending were also in social uniform. Mr. Cather and Miss Willa Cather aro visiting Mr. and Mrs. 0. H. Gere. Dr. H. Blair and wife of St. Joseph are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hickey at 1008 D street. Mr. Henry Mayer has gono to San Francisco. During tho coming month ho will wed Miss Sweitzor of that city. Mrs. M. A. Zonso of Denver is tho guest of Mrs. C. H. Gere. I Mrs. K. K. Countess Wachtmeister lectured to a large audience at the Uni versalist church on Monday evening, her subject being "Magnetism and Hynotism. Miss Gertrude Marsland has gone to Bradford, Yorkshire, Eng., and will remain until November visiting relatives. Her father ac dompanied her as far as New York, from which placo she sailed Saturday in tho Cunarder Sorvia. Mrs. O. F. Lambertson has gone to the White Mountains. Mrs. M. L. Trester and son went to Aurora, 111., this week for a visit with relatives and friends. Mrs. L. C. Pace is entertaining her sister, Mrs. Rustih of Evans ville, Ind. W. F. Meyer returned from Colorado Saturday. Mrs. Mark Tilton and wife left Thursday for a summer outing. They will be 'away several weeks and will visit friends in Michigan and Wisconsin. Dr. Dorris has returned from a pleasant trip to Lake Superior and Mackinaw Island. Governor Thayer has returned from Hot Springs, S. D. whero ho lectured twice before the chantauqua, taking for his subjects "General Grant" and '-The Iconoclast." Mrs. A. D. Beemer and daughter Luree and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dorgan have returned from the Black Hills. - Justice L. A. McCandless and wife have gono to Wotmoro, Colo. C. A. Hebbard, editor of the St. Paul Press of St. Paul, Neb., was in the city Sunday. Rev. S. R. Belville, pastor of tho Presbyterian church of Wahoo, spent Sunday in the city. Misses Jeanette Wilson, Fay Marshall and Mary Miller and Messrs John T. Dorgan, Will D. Robinson, Fritz Westerman and Matt Bald win, chaperoned by Mesdames Marshall and Wilson, left Saturday for Sheridan, Wyo. They will take a stage there and will travel about fifty miles into the mountains where they will camp for a couple of weeks. The Capital City Gun club is anxious to become the leading club of the state. It has a good membership and there is talk of build ing a elub house. The business meeting was held Friday evening at Dr. Lamberts office. The members of the club are Messrs Rod gers, Hartly Shilling, Graham, Rudge, Woods, Speer,Emery, White, Elan, Davis, Dayton, Mockett, Miller, Dorgan. Herman, Hanks, Lam bertson and Schwalks. Edward Mclntyro of Seward has been spending the week with Dr. Billings at Gnuon, Mass. He left Monday for Stafford. Vt., his old home, where he will remain several weeks.
