That the aver age value per farm in Grant county, in the center of the sand hill section, is 30 per cent higher than that of any eastern Nebraska county, that the average 160 acres of land in Wayne rounty increased $31,413 in value from 1900 to 1920, and that the aver ffe value of all improved farms in 1920 was $29,836, or more than sis times greater than it was two de cades ago, are a few of the interest ing facts brought out in a county tabulation of farm census land value prepared by A. E. Anderson, federal tgricultural statistician. One county shows a gain of $196.33 per acre in land alone since 1900. nd another county an increase of more than 3,700 per cent for the same period. . The average value per acre of improved land ranges from $11.47 in McPherson-county, to $280.59 in Douglas county. Dodge, Wayne and Burt counties follow in order rrspec-" tivclv with average values of $254.41, S246J7 and $245.56, according to Mr. Anderson. , These counties rank in the same order on the average value of land alone. Perkins Increase Largest. v Grant county s higncst average is foliwvcd by Wayne, Dodge and Burt ?ErtlUSKA UVN counties The. values respectively are $62,198, $47,549. and $45,794, and $45,675. McPherson county, with an average value of $13,358, ranks lowest. The greatest percentage of increase in value o fland was made by Per kins county. In 1900 the average value was $1.36 per acre, compared with $50.47 in 1920, an increase of more than 3,700 per cent. McPherson county has the smallest percentage of increase with only 288 per cent. Grant county also led in average size of farm with 3,720.5 acres, and Cherry county second with 1,791.9 acres. The smallest farms are found in Douglas county, the average be ing 102.1 acres. Custer county has the largest number of farms and Grant county the smallest number, respectively with 2,708 and 151. Douglas Improvements Best. " The average value per acre of im provements ranged from $40.45 per acre in Douglas county and $24.44 in Washington county to $1.06 in Arthur county. Average values per acre for the state for 1920 and 1900 are as follows: Land and improve ments, $87.91 and $19.31; land alone, $78.87 and $16.27; improvements alone, $9.04 and $3.04. The average size per farm increased from 246.1 acres in 1900 to 339.4 acres in 1920. The total value of all farms in Ne braska in 1920 was $3,712,107,760 and S577.660.020 in 1900.
