Had Rodolph Valentino followed

stead of a star. His father, a noted
bacteriologist, made numerous dis
coveries that rendered his name
prominent in scientific circles in
Europe. He was also a retired cap
tain of the Italian cavalry.
Betty Conipson recently had an
unexpected reunion at Truckee, Cal.,
with her vcrv first director in motion
pictures. Al E. Christie, who "dis
covered" Miss Conipson nearly seven
years ago and took her out of vaude
ville to be featured in his light
comedies, was in Truckee on location
at the same time that the Pcnrhyn
Stanlaws company making "Over
the Hordcr," , was there for "snow
stuff."
Bebc Daniels again denies the pub
lished report .that she is to marry
Jack Dcmpscy, world heavyweight
champion. The answer to the "re
cently published report came from
Miss Daniels, who is on location in
the Arizona Apache country mak
ing, scenes for "Yal of Taradisc," in
which she is costarring with jack
Holt. JFcr latest denial is as fol
lows: ,
"The rumor of my ciigagament to
Jack Dcmpscy is absolutely without
foundation and I am at a loss to
ascertain" its source. I am certain
Mr. Dcmpscy cannot have given cir
culation to this report as it is ab
solutely untrue. I am not engaged

Four Escape Death Near
Kearney as Car Overturns
Kearney. Xeb.. Feb. 27. (Special
to The Bee.-) A laree touring car,
driven by Kenneth McEntee. turned
turtle on the state road a mile south
of Kearney when a front wheel
came off. Dr. (Wilson, Glenn Dun
pan and Dick Daugherty were other
occupants of the car. All rscaped
with minor injuries, but the car was
wrecked.
