Kastman, one of the trustees, expressed the opinion that the church trustees will hold a meet ing, probably Sunday morning, to act upon the situation. Complete surprise at the divorce suit was expressed by members oi tl-e congregation. Bexten, assistant cashier of the First National bank, and a trus tee of the church, remarked on the apparent felicity of the Browns at the church dinner the day- before the divorce suit was filed. '. . i . t "In view of the affair and the pub licity of it all, perhaps the final de cision by ' the bishop - will be that Mr. Brown had better go to some other part of the country," he said. , "This is without regard'to the1 mer its of the case." . He said Rev. Mr. Brown was for merly a pastor in Detroit where, lie told members 'of his congregation Henry Ford used to give him a cSr each year to use in his work. Sympathy With Wife. Mrs. Bexten expressed the opinion that the sympathy of the -women of the congregation is with Mrs. Brown. "We are warm friends of both," she said, "but women of the con gregation have said that Mrs. Brown had much with which to contend. They felt that Mr. Brown was not as courteous to his wife as he should have been. '"Mr; Brown is a terrific1 driver in his work and his wife is a sweet, quiet, retiring woman and in frail health. In spite cf this she helped him much in church activities." J. H. Loomis, father of Mrs. Brown, a. chemist for the Richard son Drug company, declined to say anything about the suit. He used to live with the Browns, but left there recently to live, in a hotel. . -, Overwork Cited. Overwork of the pastor may have caused some domestic friction, ac cording to a theory of Mrs. J. G.
