Pawnbrokers Appeal Suit For Damages in Riot , Lincoln, Oct. 22. (Spec al Tele gram.) Nfax Kirshenbatun and Isa dore Garish, proprietors of an 0:r.a l.a pawnshop, looted of firearms dur ing the riot, have appealed to the 'su preme court for a judgment of $523 ironi the Massachusetts Bouding and Insurance company, claiming the amount represents less. (Speci.l) Secretary Hardmanof the Red Cloud Chamber of Commerce met with the secretary of the Superior! commercial organization to makcl plans for a road meeting that is to I be held at Guide Kock November 1. The highway that connects these three towns is in very poor shape and he commercial clubs are at tempting to work out a plan whereby this road may be improved. Vocational Training May Be Installed at North Platte North Platte, Neb., Oct. 22. (Special.) L. A. Hartley, super visor of trade and industrial educa tion, accompanied by Alice M. Loo mis, assistant supervisor, visited this city with a view of "establishing "a free evening school of vocational ami educational classes. The proposition was submitted to the Chamber of Commerce, which will take the initi?.! steps toward securing the school. One-Third of Pawnee City ' Pupils. Physically Perfect Pawnee City, Neb.; Oct. 22. (Spe cial.) An examination of all school children along physical lines shows that only one-third of the pupils are without physical defects of some sort. Most of the defects are of mi nor character.' - School Head Resigns Lincoln. Oct '22. (Specal Tele- gram.) Mrs. Ida M. Jury Disagrees Beatrice, Neb., Oct 22. (Special Telegram.) It took Mr. Kolbe three years to build the clock. He devoted all his spare time to designing and building the mechanical wonder. A manufacturer would not make such a piece without having an or der for it. Mr. Kolbe had no order and expected none. A reduction of 20 to 25 per cent was made iu the woodwork scale. Slight reductions were made in iron work. Indian Skeletous Found Iu Schuyler ''Brewery HuT' Schuyler, Neb , Oct. 22. (Special.) An old Indian cemetery was dis covered and three skeletons taken from their resting place near "Brew try hill," north of town. Workmen were hauling clay from this place to reinforce the sandy streets ot Schuyler. "Brewery hill" and "Sox hollow" in an early day were known to be burying places for the Pawnee and Genoa tribes. Beatrice Poultrymen to Stage Show in December Beatrice, Neb.. Oct. 22. (Spe cial.) The Beatrice Poultry asso ciation held a meeting and decided to put on a poultry cxh bition here during the first week of December. Judge Smiley of Seward will score the birds. Worst Mile of Meridian Road Being Improved Columbus, Neb., Oct. 22. (Spe cial.) Work on the Meridian high way from the Plstte river bridge south one mile, spoken of as the worst stretch of road on the Meridian is under yay. Stumps have been blown out and underbrush cleared to eliminate the sharp curve at the end of the bridge. The river bank at a. point where there has been an oc casional overflow is to be rip-rapped. The road will be graded up and sur faced with gumbo, and two small bridges will he put in to take care of any possible overflow. ' Fire Destrovs Barn Schuyler. Neb.. Oct. 22. (Spe cial.)
