The hog market was a trifle draggy this
morning, shippers not having quite so

got under way the bulk of hogs sold
at $16.60016.70, with an early top of $11.80.

cause of the apprehension expressed by Im
portant holders of such securities respecting
the proposed powers of the director general
and their possible effect on guaranteed net
Incomes.
Lowest quotations were registered In the
bMader selling: of the final hour, shippings,
ludustrlsls snd apectaltlee, notably tobaccos,
yielding to general pressure. Sales, (20,000
shares. ,
All csll money loans were msde at I per
cent, (he hardening of rates being attributed
to a pronounced Increase of demand. Time
rates continued esster for the short maturi
ties, but without any incresse of supply.
Efforts to stabilise Kalian exchange were
seen In the firmer tone of lire, neutral re
mlttanress showing no material alteration.
Bonds, Including Liberty Issues, were tr
regular. Paris 6a made another appreciable
advance. Total sales, par value, aggregated

noon, the market starting around a cent
