GRAIN AHDPRODDCE
Cash Corn Takes Slump of
Three to Ten Cents;
White Corn Holds
Steady.
Omaha, March 13. 1(18.
The local grain market was practical!)
a corn market, receipts of this cereal being
179 cars out of the total receipts of 203
cars.' The remainder were 22 cara of oats,
6 cars of barley and 1 car each of wheat and
rye.
All the coarse grains were considerably
lower. Cash corn sold off from 3 cents to
10 cents, the higher grades generally selling
at a considerable discount under yesterday's
offerings, while a few cars of good yellow
corn sold as much as 10 cents lower. A
very few cars of white corn millers' chotce.
brought close to yeeterday's prices. Trade
during the early hours was rather light
and on the whole assumed no large propor
tions. Sellers seemed uncertain as to the

Corn.
Chicago, March 18. Liberal receipts and
the fact that eastern shipping demand had
nearly vanished tended today to ease the
corn market. Futures closed steady, s shade
to o net lower, with March $1.27 and May
$t.2701.27. Oata finished 0o ta

Notwithstanding that unsettled weather
gave the corn market a little strength at
the outset trie effect failed to last In the
faoe of gossip that If stocks continued te
Increase the troubles of the trade regarding
high prloe restrictions would soon be hardly
more than a memory. Absence ot exporters
from the market remained a depressing
Influence snd owing to the laok of hedging
facilities the elevator Interests also ap
peared lothe to take hold. Industries, how.
Ever, were good buyers and there was ev.
ence of gradual Improvement in the quel
Ity of arrivals.
Oats weakened under persistent selling by
discouraged longs, with hears Inclined to be
more aggressive. Attention of Immense farm
reserves In Illinois bad much to do with
the action of prices.
Previsions ranged lower mainly because
ct the heavy average of hog arrivals and
as a result of the continued plentiful supply.
