WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER , iz, 19IY Drawn for The Bee by George m McManus i it 1 - 1 v ' ' SAINTS PULL BIG BATTLE IN EIGHTH Omaha Ties Score in Fifth, Only to Fall Back in Next to Last liming to Holly's Crew. . St. Joseph, Mo., Sept. 11. (Special ' Telegram.) Dave Rose all but pitched himself into the hall of fame today, just one hit standing between him and the niche which rio-hit artists occupy. Frexy Dickerson and Owners IJan lon and Rourke sat in the stand yes terday afternoon and it was "some" game which the players of the Omaha and St. Joseph teams gave their em- Jloyers, the contest being won by bt. oseph, 2 to 1. The day was a bit too cold for, a large crowd to attend and that ex plains why some .few hundred fans in this town .missed one of the best games oL the season. The Saints scored first, when Gil . more singled and Holly hit into a double play. With two down Rader singled and stole second and Crosby singled, scoring Rader. Muller struck out. In the fifth Omaha tied the. score. Parks doubled and went to third on a wild pitch scoring on a sacrifice fly by Brottem. Thompson went out, short to first, and Nye was an easy out via the third-to-first route. That ended the scoring for the Rourkes. The Saints won the game in the eighth when Gilmore tripled to left and Holly hit what could be easily scored as either, a hit br a fielder's choice, without an injustice to Any one. At any rate Holly beat out the play and Gilmore scored. Rader forced Holly at second and Crosby flew to center field. And it was with a crip pled lineup that the Saints won their game, for a pitcher, Sutherland, and a catcher, Dugan, were played in the . outfield. , Des Moines Lands Double From Ducks With Ease i Des Moines, Sept 11.
