The RouYkes made seven hits count !
f jr as man runs yesterday and Pa's
I'cts ran of with the ball game from
J tolly's Saints, 7 to 3. Tlie victory
made the count on the series, three
out of four for our heroes.
Mr. Ros was sent to the hurlintr
mound for the Saints at the start and
for four inrjngs the Rourkes chances
seemed slinl. Pa's men had failed to
connect for a hit. had made only one
run with th aid of a couple of walks
and a wild titch, while the Saints had
marked up three tallies and had con
nected lor seven nits.
Dut the home half of ;'.e fifth
proved the undoing of Mr. Rose.
Cooney and Williams opened with
hits and Rose punctured Miller with
pitched ball, filling the bases. Shaw's
long fly scored Cooney. Rose dished
out a wallt to Vardley and Holly
derricked Pose. :
, . Poor Move.
tt was a poor move. In the first
place it cost him $10 to get Gaspar
into the game as the umps plastered
Harry with a fine of that sum Monday
and he refused to let Gaspar hurl un
til the ten was forthcoming. In the
xccond place, the Rourkes took a lik
ing to the Gaspar brand of hurling.
firoiteni greeted Gaspar with a
hard drive to short which Rader bob
hied.. This scored Williams. Miller
also beat it for home and Rader added
to the good work with a wild throw.
That gave the Rourkes a one-run
lead on the Saints and in the seventh
they annexed three, more tallies on 2
quartet of solid knocks. ,
. After the third inning, Men had
the Saints baffled so the game was a
rinch for our side.
