Mollie Williams' Show Wins Again At Gayety House Is it because a woman bosses them that the girl, in Mollie Williams' burlesque show step with more pep than any group of dancing damsels that struck town this season? Form your answer to fit your philosophy, but the fact remains that the troupe of choristers whom Miss Williams sent through their paces at the Gay ety theater last night performed with a vim and dash which other shows have lacked. Although it's a girl show in which the girls wear costumes of beauty and brevity, the spice of good com edy is not lacking. It is in this skit I that Miss Williams performs the Dance L Fnticcnient, a terpsichur eim effort of no mean merit. Kva Malvin, Frankie Burns and Florence Kelly lend their charms and abilities to make a success of sev eral little farces. In "Some Sanitar ium" they join forces with Burns Aills and Simon Meyers and produce a rattling good comedy in which there is much appreciable satire. Miss Williams herselt offers a "fashion review," in which clothes are not the only attractions she dis plays. She has several specialty songs which make a hit, including her ditty about a "Letter Carrier" girl, whose proficiency in handling the "males" merits the attention of more than postoffice authorities. Nearly Inch of Moisture. Beatrice, Neb., April 8. (Special Telegram.) Rain and snow has been falling in this se-'tion of the state Gov, Eberhart Favors Omaha Plan Of Securing the New Industries Co-Operation of Business Men Strong Inducement in Secur ing Factories for City. BRINGS BETTER CONCERNS Former Governor Eberhart of Min nesota is in favor of "The Omaha Plan" of getting industries to locate in Omaha. He said so in his talk be fore the Commercial club of Omaha recently. He heartily approved Omaha's plan of offering a prospective new factory or industry in Omaha the co-operation of the Omaha -business men in stead of offering them a bonus to get them to locate here. "A lot of cities spend a lot of time and money," he said, "bribing fac tories and industries to come, that are no good when they get there. I would much rather have the co-operation of all the Omaha business men promised me than all the bonus or bribe another city could give me to locate an industry within its borders." Former Governor Eberhart had a lot of things to say about Omaha as a manufacturing and jobbing city. Of course, his subject was something about the problem of enforcing peace after the great war, but then he could not refrain from touching on manu facturing and general industry while he was talking and while he was in the heart of the industrial whirl of Nebraska's metropolis. So he took occasion also to touch on river navigation and its importance to a city and to a community in the upbuilding of industry, and the afford ing of adequate facilities to handle the TAFT'S ; DENTAL ROOMS NEW LOCATION 318 Rose Building 16th and Farnam St. Douglas 2186. r 4tl3ril OK?' 0i nr. Land Commissioner Takes Inventory of State Lands (From . Stan Corrtapondeitt.) Lincoln, April 8. (Special.) For the first time in thirty-four years the land commissioner is taking an in ventory of the lands due the state of Nebraska from the government by reason of resurveys and rights-of-way granted by the federal govern ment through state lands. No definite figures as to the acres have yet been reached, but the De partment of the Interior has been asked to set aside as indemnity for a part of this ihort acreage four farms in Grant county. The lands are now reserved from entry pending the checking of the claims by the United States Department of the Interior, when, no doubt, they will be trans ferred to Nebraska as common school lands. industries to the best possible advan tage. "Water transportation is necessary," he said, "to a city like this, and I am very glad to see that river navigation is one of the activities with which the business men here are concerning themselves. There was a time when the railroads fought river transporta tion, but that time is past. They don't fight it any more. They realiie that there is an advantage in co-operation. "Just at this time when we see the assurance that it is only a question of a short time when the cars and railway facilities will be all tied up with the transportation of munitions, we can readily see the importance of having river transportation developed to handle at least a part of the normal transportation the railroads handled for us before." As to the necessity of co-operation between the railroads and the river boat lines, Mr. Eberhart said: "It is only a question of a short time when they must establish joint transporta tion. Facilities must be so arranged with switches, trackage, docks, etc., that freight can be readily handled from boat to rail and from rail to boat. They must aid one another, each being an auxiliary of the other. "We can never have an adequate service until this is accomplished and is in good working order. River navigation is now open on the Missouri and the Julius Silber has gone to Decatur loaded with mer chandise from Omaha firms. It will return soon with a full load of live stock and grain. Boats which have been in operation here have made good money, and the navigation committee says there Is a good field for more boats.
