"Ex-Presldent Taft will be appointed to
Succeed Lamar as a supreme court
Justice," said a prominent Omaha - at
torney. "I base my belief on what I had
previously heard would happen if a
vacancy occurred."
If Mr. Taft is appointed, he will be
the first er-prealilent to go to the au
premo bench. The supreme court la now
made up of comparatively new justices.
Chief Justice White Is the oldest and
has served twenty-two yesrs. McKonna
hss served sixteen and Holmes twelve
years. None of the others has been on
the bench over six years.
