petrated by Patterson, and the only hit
of the contest lh.it brought In a count:-.
The Rourkes nmased eight singles from
the flirt clns assortment of lVley's
slants, who hurled what would ardl
nailly have lern n winning game.
Itmnha Krorra la First.
After Wichita had been blanked In the
first Inning Smith led off for the home
club with a single to right, and on a
passed ball took second, ;hlrd on Breen's
infield cut, and tame home on Fdr.
sythe's retirement from second to first.
Krug ended the Inning by grounding
out.
Again In the second Omaha secure! an
other tally on MeChesney's walk and
pintles by Tannehill and Schllebner
Aside from llio Wlches' one score In the
fifth, accomplished by a walk and Pat
terson's two-bp.gger, the rest of the bat
tle was marked only by all-round clean
work and not the sign ot a falter by a
single player.
Herosd a Walkaway.
Cam two, which was played mostly
in a drlxxly rain, was a walkaway for the
Rourkes. The Wlches never came close
to scoring, while Omaha piled up a total
of twelve runs In a pntpourl of safe
pokes, including four two-bagRers, four
bases on bolls, and a pair of errors,
Tom Blodgett had the game where he
wanted It at all times, while the whole
Wichita club plainly showed the ravages
of being forced to engage in five double
headers In that many consecutive days.
Despite '.he rain a good -jronrd assem
bled for the entertainment and departed
highly el i ted over the home club's double
success. Two more games at Rourke park
on lbor day winds up vhe season in
Omaha. Score, first came:
