ROURKES' LOSING
STREAK JS BROKEN
After Dropping Eight Straight
Games Omaha Copi Second Fray
of Double Bill from Bears.
BL0DGETT HURLS SLICK FRAY
Tlio expert curving of Tab Blodgett
and the heavy, bombarding of Bobbie
Walls and Hippo McChesney broke Orna.
ha's long lotting streak In tha second
game of the double bill staged at Hourke ,
park on the Sabbath and Omaha won
one after losing eight games In a row,
aix of them on the homo lot. The bar
pain matinee was divided, Denver win
ning tha first game, S to 0, and Omaha
the second, S to 2.
Omaha came pretty near losing that
second game, too. Ptcl: Cantwell, the
Denver hurlor, was In punh form and hln
offerings seemed to please the Rourko
artillery. Also Dickie was wild. Many
an opportunity for a score did he give
the Rourkes. but for some reason or other
the ilourkes were reluctant to taka ad
vantage of their opportunities.
Wrlli and II In pit Do It All.
But there was nothing slow about We'.ls
or Hippo. To that duo can be traced all
three runs. In the third round Omaha
scored one. Breen slngW-d and want to
second on Shlolds1 error. He was caught
trying to swipe third while Krug was
coaxing a walk. Wells poled a double
down the first base line and Krug went
to third, to score a moment later on Mc
Chesney's infield out.
The second home counter was marked
up In the fifth when Wells singled to
left and scored on Hippo"s double to left
And the winning run came over In ths ,
eighth when Wells poled a triple to con- i
ter and Hippo singled to tha same garden.
In the meantime Tom Blodgett was
hurling slick ball. He allowed but four
hits and Denver scored In only on frame,
the fourth. The runs were counted on a
walk, an Infield hit and KeUeher" triple.
Three Rons In First.
The first game was a hard one to lose.
In the first Inning Thompson passed out
two walks and Miller made a hit. Breed's ;
wild chuck allowed two score and a
sacrifice fly by Shields the third. That,
finished It, as Thompson permitted no
more scoring.
But Prince Oasklll, chucking for the
opposition, was In a similar mood and
the Rourkea counted nary once. Prince
was, exceedingly tight In the pinches.
Omaha outhlt Denver seven hits to five
In the gam.
Today Topcka comes for four games.
Today wUl be ladles' day. Game called
