ROURKES RETURN

1
Trip on Road is Disastrous, Xrag'i
Men Losing Eight Oat of Thir
teen Games Played.
BAD PITCHING IS THE REASON
After a more or less disastrous trtp
over the weatern wheel of the circuit '
the Rourkea return home to open a
stretch of twelve days on the local lot !
Wednesday. Des Molnea will " be tfte j
first attractlon.v j
Omaha won five games and lost eight
on the western swing. Two out of three .
were dropped at Denver. Wichita and'
Topeka and the four-game series at L4n-1
coin resulted In an even break. But the '
losses on the road did not affect the
standing of the club, as the Rourkea re-,
turn home In fifth place, the same posi
tion they were in on their departure. !
To bad pitching- must be ascribed the '
poor showing away from home. Tom
Blodgett, regarded as among the best I
twirlers In the league, lost four games !
and annexed nary a victory. Ha was
hammered hard In every game. Bob In-,
gersoll, the new pitcher, lost three and :
won one. Cecil Thompson won two games
and Lou North won two and lost one. j
Bverdon was used onl as a relief hurler.
The Dea Molnea aeries, which opens
Wednesday, will consist of three games
played In two days. The original schedule .
called for games .Wednesday, Thursday!
and Friday, but It was agreed to double I
the Friday game and play It as part of
a bargain bill Thursday. Then Denver .
wilt oome here Friday, an open date,
and the Booster day game will be played ;
with Coffey's crew. Also Des Moines j
wOl Jump for home and play Its Booster
day with Lincoln on Friday. Following :
Denver will come Topeka, Lincoln and
