Fake Yarn Spread
That Omaha Motor
Race Lost 1550,000
A report which Is declared to have
emanated from Sioux City has been sys
tematically spread around Omaha that
the Omaha Bpeedway company found
Itself approximately ihort In cash on tha

has It that the gross receipts were IW.OOO.
while but 348,000 was turned In to ths
peedway directors and that some person
or persons made off with the large chunk.
Bert La Bron, president of the speed
way company, denied the report when
questioned yesterday, asserting that there
was no shortage of any kind on ths gats
and that the report had been traced to
Sioux City, where persons who are not
particularly friendly to an Omaha speed
way clroulated ths scurrilous story.
"There Is absolutely no truth tn ths
story," said Le Bron. "and we have
learned that ths yam wag started In Sioux
City. In the first place It can be seen
that the report la ridiculous because a
blind man could have seen that there was
no 290,000 gate at the races."

BEATRICE, Neb.. July lSWSpedaU
The gama this afternoon with Hastings
was probably the last State league gama
to be played In Beatrice this season.
Buch was the announcement of the otub)
directors Wedneeday evening1. York ha
definitely announced that league . haao
ball Is a thing of the past In that cltr
after today, and that their ball park
would be dismantled and the team dis
banded. With that team out of the
league there Is no poasibillty of keeping
the organisation going until the dose,
which would be August 20.
President Miles and the Beatrice di
rector have done all they could to keep
the league going, but without succeen.
The attendance has not been what It
should In any of the towns, and sine
tha league started to drop sway interest
has waned In all of ths State league
