A real, sure-tmough gold spike will
be driven Into the wooden track at
the Auto Speedway Saturday ' after
noon, to signify the completion of the
big course. In preparation for the
300-mlle rare July 5 for a -purse of
$15,000. Mayor Dahlman and the

the big gold spike, following a parade
of scores of autos through the busi
ness section of Omaha.
Sheriff F. J. McShane. Jr., director of
contests for the Speedway, ha returned
from Chicago, where ho signed some of
the world' best racing; drivers for the
July S classic here.
Office Secretary S. B. Smyth of the
Omaha Autc' club 'has sent "letters to all
auto and commercial clube within 100'
mile of . Omaha asking them to. drag
the auto roads, to facilitate traffic to
the Speedway race here July $.'
He also- has received word from Man
ager Beai of the -Sioux City Speedway,
that a big crowd ot -apeed fan, from
that city will come to Omaha July 6 for
the race here. The Sioux City Speedway
will hold a bis race July 3.
