The receipts of grain on the local ex change are gradually increasing aa the roads are getting in belter condition to haul the grain to the country elevatora W heat was strong today, selling at lc higher, but there were oniy a few cars reported sold. Corn was unchanged- to Ho higher, while oats sold He higher and there was a fairly good demand for both of these cereals. A surprise was glen the grain trade yesterday by the discovery that all mar kets have been oversold. Wheat bears have keen unable to see any good in the market, basing their opinion on the crop outlook and apparently forgetting the rash situation. Export houses. are not get ting manv orders and say it would be hard to fill them lor large amounts. The flour trade showed evidence of waking tip and a more friendly feelhig to wheat apparently existed. - Clearances were: Wheat and flour equal to 1.4J2.1MI0 bushels; corn, 41,000 bushels: oats, 4HB.ono bushels. I Jverpool rlcae: TVheat, not quoted; corn, not quoted. Primary wheat receipts were 3S2.On0 bushela and shipments 324,01s) bushels, sgalnat receipts of tfcA.Ort) bushela and shipment of 6"2,000 bushels last year. Primary corn receipt were 42.,000 bushels and shipments 615.000 bushels, against receipts of 610,000 bushels and shipments of 906.000 bushela last year. Primary oat receipts were fifil.OflO bushela and shipments 7fi9.O0 bushels, against receipts of 72X.O0O bushels and shipments of 1,206.000 bushels last year. CARLOT RECEIPTS. W heat Corn. Oate. Tightness of the May contracts regulated then to an unuscal extent the course of tno new crop months. Cable reports that the Anglo-French and Kusalan fleets were aealn attacking the defenses of Constantinople tended to ease the wheat market somewhat during the last half hour. Dispatches intimating that an attack was to be made on Adrta nople also had their effect. Corn sagged early and late with wheat The bulls were handicapped by the slow ness of cash demand. SurWay. CATTLE As usual on a Saturday, the market was practically bar of cattle. For the week receipts have been quite liberal, and although lighter than most recent weeks, they are decidedly heavier than for the corresponding week of last year. Beef steers have been In better demand than for a long time back. The trade has had more snap and more Uf to It, and the market as a whole has been in a good healthy condition, with .price steadily tending upwsrd. Good heavy cattle have sold as hipa as 8S.26 and year lings up to t.3o, making the market 26 S60 and In spots &0o higher than a week ago. The better grade of cow and heifers have shown the same advance as beef steers, but medium and common kinds are not so very much higher, although they have made fair Improvement. Veal calves have strengthened up and tha best grades are 26o higher than a week ago. Light bulls 'have sold to fairly good ad vantage, but heavy bulla are still slow, the demand being more or less limited. Stockers and feeders have been good sellers all the week, with price around 10relSc higher than last week's close. Quotations on cattle: Good to choice beeves, ?i.86t&i8.40; fair to good cornfed beeves, 87.60!(jp7.85: common to fair corn fed beeves, 86.H0igp7.50; good to choice heifers, fi.6tx37.26; goo) to choice cow, t6.3&iini.90; fair to good cows, 86766.86; Mmtiton to fair cows, t3.76.u6.75; good to choice stockers and feeders, t7.26J7.85: fair to good stockers and feeders tv.CtWy 7.26; common to fair stockers and feeders, t.007.00; stock heifers, 85.85&6.S5; stock cows, t6.50(9J.6O: stock calves, 8S.258.2S; veaL calves, 870010.00; bulls, stags, tc, 84.7&Jr.26. KuGS Supplies were only fair, and a the demand continued In good shape, trade was In many ways a repetition of Friday's. Shippers were out early, and they bought everything they could use, taking fully half of the receipts and pos sibly more than that. Their early pur chases were no more than a big nickel higher, or at the outside 610c higher, but after the packers got Into the game .they were forced to pay a flat dime ad vance in order to get any more hogs. The big end of their prchases was made at 6.86U6.90, with a top of t6.9G. Packers started bidding a big nickel higher and bought a very few hogs that war. but shippers were buying right and left, and In order to get any hogs the killers were forced to raise their offer to a fully lOo higher- level. Most of the purchases were made on this hails, and the trade closed strong, some of the last sales being quoted as much as loo higher. For the week receipts have been very light, not only here, but at all points aa well. Local receipts have been the small eat of any ntcent week, but about the same as a year ago. . Steadily, day after day, lamb prices have been working to a higher point un der the doubly stimulating Influence of moderate receipt and good buying de mand. - Sheep, that Is old wethers and also yearlings, have been very scarce, hardly enough appearing on sale to -really test out the market. The feeling, however, has been stronger. it will be of interest to note that lambs, which sold Up to tlO.45 this week, were 15o lower than the highest price ever paid on this market, which was 810.60 in .1910. Ewes, which reached fi-26, were also 16o lower than the extreme top touched for ewes at this point In 1910.
