ests In the club, and third waa the defi
nite announcement that Roger Bresna

Murphy's Influence became apparent In
th success of his fight to keep the Cubs
on their Wast Bid playing ground, of
which he I a half owner, with Mr. Taft
holding the other half. On returning
from Cincinnati Murphy declared there
waa no chance for Wecghman'a buying
Into th National league club, and this
waa confirmed soon after by Taft'a an
nouncement that negotiations wars ended.
Finally Murphy stated positively that
Bresnahan would succeed Hank O'Day
a West Side pilot. Partial confirmation
of this came later when President

tionals were at an end.
When asked what effect the failure of
Mr. Weeghman to purchase the Chicago
Nationala woull have on tha proposed

Herrmann -of the natlopal commission
said:
"I cannot tell as yet. 1 have no Idea
