Elgin road raoe course were smashed In
practice today when Teddy Tetalaff,

track In 8 minutes 55.23 second, official
time, an average of 712 mile an hour.
Hi slowest time for five successive laps
was 7 minutes .71 seconds. The next
best time to Tetslaffs was made by

Big Bill McCormlck of the Antelopes is
giving big Jawn Beall of the Grisslles a

these fellows are over six feet tall and

A new pitcher has been added to the
Des Moines staff. H's name Is Klttering
and he Is a college product He has been
plavlng with Fort Dodge in the Iowa
state league and has been delivering the
goods.
The hew outfield of Des Moines I not
going so bad. At the bat they get away
fine, but according to reports they do
not cover all the ground possible. The
new faces are Collins, right field; Wetzel,
left field, and Morris, center field.
Choulnard of the Des Moines team has
been riven hta release bv Manager Isbell.
Choulnard started out with bells on for
the Boosters, but was taken sick aiier
playing a few weeks and now has lost
his batting eye, consequently hi release.
Jimmy McGIll of the Grixilles Is so sure

at Des Moines yesterday morning. After
playing twelve innings or tne naroest

the county commissioners of Douglas and
Saunders counties failed to reach an
agreement for construction of the pro
posed bridge. The Saunders county men
offered to give Douglas county half. of
the old bridge, now useless, and 32,600 If
Douglas county would build a new bridge.
The Douglas county commissioner re
jected this proposition because the cost
to Douglas county would total 811090.
