Detective John Zaloudek arrested the woman and her companion. Paul Popa. yesterday morning at 2506 P street upon information furnished by the woman's husband, a farmer In Ohio. Mrs. Costa is alleged to have left home with her son and companion some four months ago- Her husband immediately instituted a search for the woman In an effort to regain his son. Mrs. Costa Is also said to have had $S00 to her credit In an Ohio bank. Paul Popa who was living with the woman was turned loose by the police because of lack of incrim inating evidence. The woman was charged with adultery. Etter Heads bowling? I.eagnr, Postmaster Lew F. Etter was chosen yesterday morning at a meeting of the South Omaha bowlers held at Garlow's alleys to be president of the Magic City Bowling league. Dr. E. Hunt was elected vice president, A. C. Koch, secretary and John Brlggs treasurer. Ten teams have already signed up for the season and two more will have signed before the meeting of the league captains which will be held next Sunday at Oarlow's. According to those best informed It Is expected that the Packers' league will disband this year In order to allow some of its members to affiliate with Omaha teams and other South Omaha teams. The alleys have been put in fine shape for the season which will 'open Septem ber 15. Drifts; Makes Raid. Chief of Police John Brlggs in a per sonally conducted tour, raided a house at Twenty-sixth and N streets .Paturday night and arrested two men and three women whom he charged with vagrancy. The women are Helen Hart, Irene Wyant and Josle Osborn. The nvn are Frank Meyers and Melvin Wyant. The chief was angry that such a house should have been found so near the heart of the city, fiarlic (Sanies Revived. It Was a big day for the Irish residents ot South Omaha at the picnic given by the Irish-Americiui club at the country club grounds yesterday. Although the heat was intense, the Gaelic games were the order of the day and th lassies looked on' while the Kerry lads and the Farrar Downs chaved the pigskins around the field. For the coming season the club, it Is understood, will make' a feature ot the Gaelic games that have ben revived of late years among the Irish throughout the world. Queer Muddle Over Watch. Only the quick eye of Lee Altman, a pawnbroker at Twenty-fifth and N streets, saved a. valuable watch In the possession of Tom Brown, whom the po lice are holding on suspicion of his hav ing stolen the watch from Peter Keegan. Keegan asserts that a watch and large amount of money were atolen from him Sunday night. Brown says he bought the watch from Keegan for 6J cents. Dunham, a well known Lincoln business man, was drowned in (he Capital beach swimming pool here at noon today. No one saw him go under and he was not missed until his wife began to hunt for htm. Edward Jolly and Louis Ioose were drowned In the Detroit river today, after their overloaded canoe sank. They had been paddling about at the head of Belle Isle when the craft took In water and hurled the young men into the river. Electrical Storms DESOTO, Mo., Aug. 24Four members of the family of Jefferson Ruhlo, a road worker, were killed by lightning, which struck the tent in which they were living here today. Ruhlo, his wile, a 18-year-old daughter and a baby girl were in stantly killed. A grown son escaped death, but was stunned and severely burned. The family was living in a tent about four miles southeast of nere. Present plans call for few speeches from the candidate him self, but a larger number from William J. Bryan, Speaker Clark, Representative Oscar W. Underwood, Governors Harmon of On(o and Koss if Massachusetts, Sen ator James of Kentucky and scores of ' members of both houses. Bryan Arranges Own Toar. Mr. Bryan has arranged his own itiner ary to begin about September 1. He will speak for the most part in the middle west, beginning. It is said, In Nebraska, and taking In Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana. Washington. Oregon, Utah, Missouri, Illi nois and Ohio. In these Mr. Bryan will make big stumping tours, but he also will devote as much time as possible to states east of the Mississippi river. While Mr. Bryan Is concentrating on the nerthwest and the middle west, Speaker Clark will tour the southwest. After his three speeches In Maine next week, he will proceed Vi Missouri, Colo rado, New Mexico. and California. Representative Underwood will speak for the most part In tha east, and prob ably will discuss chiefly the tariff.
