Fentress and Miller opposed each other on the mound and lasted the entire nine Innings. Both worked good, although Fentress must be given the credit for getting the better of the argument. Eight hits were garnered from his delivery, but aside from the second Inning they were kept well scattered and did no damage. . Jlmmle Kane, the favorite of the Omaha fans, showed up In wonderful form, field ing Hke a veteran and getting away with some hair-railing stunts. . He wss the Omaluv man who waa able to steal on Cadman, the Sioux backstop. Thomason. Scanlon and Wanner dlvMed the honors with the wMlow,' each getting two safe hits. Thomsaon got away with a three bagger and Kane came across with a two Backer. Brooks was the only man In the entire game who did not show up strong. However., this may be .due .to his .condi tion. At the bst'he gave a good account of .himself, getting away with two safe bits. Faas All Attend. Approximately 8,U fans attended the opener and were well satisfied with the dtih handed them. It was a continual boost for the Omaha boys and if the fans would come out every day the way they did yesterday and with the same noise there is .no doubt but what tha pennant would -be-easily won by the -Bourses. , Sioux City started out without a hit or an error. The Rourkes ,ln their half of the Inning made three runs on a single, double and three errors. It looked like 1 the game was on Ice and all over but the yelling for the home boys. Scanlon' hit In the next Inning won the game. . In the first Coyle singled to center, went to second when Brooks dropped the throw to first and Thorns son landed safe. After Murray was thrown out stealing. Merkl hit for the circuit. Bchardt was also hit rather bard, but ha kept the locals' hits scattered.
