Objection Is mads to ths ordinaries under which the occupation tax Is col lected, attorneys having been retained by the temporary organisation to contest Its enforcement. Nsrues of dealers who have refused to pay their occupation taxes have been placed In the hands of the prosecuting attorney, but none of the dealers have been approached. Reporta that a few of the smaller dealers have decided to pay their taxes rather than stand ths ex penses of extended litigation Is stren uously denied at organisation headquar ters. Smaller dealers are fighting tor a graduated ' ocupatlon tax, compelling largo dealers to pay mora. Ralph Par rish and Patrick Kendla were arrested In the A. J. Cary pool room at H6 North Sixteenth street Thursday night and charged with gambling. They were tried In police court and bound over to the district court. A complaint was filed charging Cary with running a gambling house. He waa arraigned and waived preliminary hearing and waa bound over to the dis trict court. His bond was fixed at 00. MOTHER OF MRS. WARREN ROGERS DIES IN THE EAST Mrs. Warren M. Rogers and her daugh ter. Mildred, were called to Portland, Me., Thursday by the sad news of the sudden death of Mrs. Peering, mother of Mra Rogers. Mrs. Deering wss 111 but a few days with pneumonia. Last summer Mrs. Deering motored to Omaha from Portland and after spend ing several weeks here returned by motor to Maine.
