Louis Anderson, a long distance runner;
Arthur Hiltner, center on the varsity bas
ket ball team; W. O. Bates, a cross-country
man and W. R. Ankeny, a track man,
wer the successful candidates at the ath
letlo board election held Monday at the
stat university.
The election passed without the slight
est excitement, the usual tight on Theta
Nu Epsllon playing little figure In the re
sult. Charges of T. N. E affllllatlnna were
circulated against four of the candidates,
but played but little figure in the general
result and 'were generally discredited by

Dr. Clapp caused some excitement early
Monday morning by attempting . to tore

CHICAGO, May S.-Preaident Al Tearney
of th Three-I leagu announced today
that all trouble of hi association had
com to an end at last and that play
would begin Wednesday with Quincy play
ing In the plac of Bloomlngton, having
bought that club' franchise today.
Th announcement wa made by Presi
dent Tearney before th called meeting
to arrange a playing schedule.
Quincy had withdrawn Its Injunction suit
and. having options on the franchises of
several of th southern clubs, it sent rep
resentative to the meeting today author
ised to buy Its way Into the league.
Bloomlngton accepted the terms offered
by Quincy, which 'wer not made public,
and dropped out of the Three-I. No an
nouncement of it future waa mad by
Bloomlngton' delegation.
President Tearney was much elsted over
th outooma. a It relieved the league of
th loss of 82.600 paid by Quincy to enter
tho organisation and it also shunted off
the payment of damages to that club be
cause of It failure to get in after It had
been given to understand such a procedure
oould be arranged.

day, but th club representative expected
to decide on the first ten game today.

"Get Acquainted Special," on the Oregon
Short Line left for Boise today to com
plete the tour of Idaho by a visit at the
state capital, after having visited every
part of that railroad system. The head
of all th department of th railroad
were on the train and have been making
a tour for the purpose of meeting their
patron; finding the resource of the tat
and what can be done to build up the
town of Idaho. The visit to Weiaer fol
lowed a trip along the line of the Pacific
& Northern Idaho railroad, through the
fa mousv Council valley, and then by aVo
moblles through the new Irrigation dis
tricts tributary to Weiaer. Beside th old
fruit districts which have been producing
for many year, a number of new one ar
now being opened tn what 1 known aa
"th goldeu heart of Idaho." Thl la
formed by a series pf rich valley opening
up from th Wler river north of the
city.
After visiting th points of Interest near
Welser, and an Investigation of th manu
facturing opportunities offered, a banquet
was tendered the visiting railroad men fol
lowed by a public meeting In their honor
at which D. B. Spencer, assistant general
passenger agent of Bait Lake City; E. A.
Van Stcklln, Mile Cannon and others
made talk on Idaho opportunities. .

on th new court house. After two months
of bucking nd shying on th proposition
of changing the contract In favor of th
horn product, th Bord of County Com
missloner took a final deciding vote in
favor of th change yesterday afternoon
Instructing th county attorney to draw
up the paper necessary for the change.
John C. Lynch and Peter Elasser, eom
mlasioners. hav fought the change since
the matter was brought before the board
by the contractors. Their grounds have
been that It would be dangerous tn change
the contract, although they did not object
particularly to the Colorado "marble. Com
missloner Lynch voted against the resolu
tion yesterday. Commissioner Elsasser waa
absent. The rest of tho hoard voted for
the change, saying that they had received
enough assurance from public bodies to
justify them in doing so.
Letters favorable to the Colorado-Yule
company from the architects on the

the million dollar courthouse st Johnston,
O.. were brought before the board.

the Land of the Thistle Held

Annual memorial services for deceased
Scots of Clan Gordon were conducted In
the First Presbyterian church Sunday. To
their memory eulogies were delivered by
Thomas Johnson. He was followed tn his
talk by John L. Kennedy, who dwelt upon
the stability of the Scots. The sentiment
expressed by Mr. Kennedy was' dwelt upon
by Rev. Robert Wheeler f South Omafia.
In. addition to the speaking there were
a number of appropriate musical numbers,

Suit has been filed In the district court
fo rthe recovery of S2.90O, alleged to have
been lost by the husband of the plaintiff.
In gambling, at a place where It wa
claimed waa conducted by William L. Bow
man, Harvey Thompson and Hal C. Roll,
in this city, during the month of Septem
ber. October and November, 1910, The plain
tiff la Mrs. Wilford C. Bayne, now living
in Arkansas, and the suit was filed by
Lincoln attorneys. There' is an Intimation
that It may be the forerunner of others.
Other defendants, sitting In games, but
not alleged tc have had anything to do lr)
maintaining the place are Harry Peck, a
farmer, residing near Bhelton, and Niels
Nlelson of thl city. On th part of th
