Tho Country rlub announces that Its formal opening will be held Paturday, May 33. but yesterday wai the real beginning of the club season, aa the club la now ready for club entertainment of membera. May 13 la likewise the data of the table d hot dinner and danre which Is to be the formal opening of the Field rlub season. But at this club also the summer season has already been inaugurated by the golf enthusiasts. Happy Hollow club Is open now from the golfers' point of view, but the season of the club Is not to be formally launched until May 20. Even this date Is provisional and may be moved to May 27, If the extensive improvement now under way at tha club houg ara not completed before that time. May Is to Include several entertainments philanthropic In Impulse and social in ex pression. One of the important of these la the card party which Is given annually In benefit of The i Creche and tha date of which Is May 23. An Innovation this year is the large so ciety entertainment which la to be given In benefit of the City Mission. This entertain ment Is called a "Trip Around tha World With Terpsichore" and will Include dances tspresentatlve of all nations. It Is to be given at the Brandele theater. May SO. The dancers will Include young women of social prominence and younger members of promi nent families. It is an entertainment which la certain to be replete with charm because the young performers In their former public appearances hava delighted by their en thusiasm for the revived art of dancing. The entertainment Is under tha supervis ion of Miss Louden. Among those who will assist aa patronesses are Mrs. P. P. Klrken dall, Mrs. Charlea Offutt, Mrs. George A. Joslyn, Mrs. John Burk. Hn. O. Th long tull veil was held In place with while blossoms. A shower of lilies of th valley formed th bouquet. Secretnry of the Treasury McVeagh and Mrs. McVeagh wer host at dinner Thursday evening to one of the most bril liant assemblage of ocl!ty that ha gath ered at the capital during the Beason. President Tart and Mrs. Taft were among the honored guests and when the chief executive and first lady of the land Joined the guests at the beautiful McVeagh horn, another precedent wa broken. Of all the unwritten law which bind the ooial lif of Washington, none has been more rigidly observed than tha on which say that th president and his wife shall dine only with the cabinet officials and with each of them only one a year. Earlier In th season Secretary and Mrs. McVeagh gave their dinner for President Taft and Mrs. Taft.
