If the ap preciation for the force is not Increased. Huch was the declaration of the chief Tuesday morning. For eight years the men have been worked on the three-shift plan, each pxtrolman working eight hours. But because of the Inadequate funds, the force wHl have to be decreased to keep the expenses within the apportionment. "If the revised charter bill Is not ap proved by the governor, this will be the only solution of the police tangle," shvs Chief Iionahue. "I admit it I a stop backward, but there la no other alternative. For years we have beeen struggling along, doing the best we could with the available money. Tho city Is not policed as It should be. At present we have eighty-three patrolmen but all are not working because of Injuries and lack of funds. To provide proper po lice protection, we should have 125 men at east. The raise In the new charter would permit u to put on many patrolmen and Increase the efficiency of the force. But I em as If the Increase was going to be refused. We must police the city as best we can with the limited force. I have come to the conclusion that the only thing to do s to reinstate the .double shift scheme. This will necessitate more work for the patrolman, but it la the only solution. 'We will have no relief for three years. So, as soon as 1 find out that the force has to be diminished to make It came within the appropriation, I will meet It by laying off probably a doxen men and sub stituting the double shift" Charles Lchmer. lau cemetery. When gray hairs appear It Is a sign that nature needs assistance. It la nature's call for help. Gray hairs, dull lifeless hair, or hair that Is fall ing out 1b not necessarily a sign of advancing age, for there are thous ands of elderly people ith perfect heads of hair without a Bingle Btreak of gray. When gray hairs come, or when the hair seems to be lifeless or dead, some good, reliable halr-restorlng treatment should be resorted to at once. Specialists say that one of the best preparations to use ta the old fashioned "sage tea," which our grand parents used. The best preparation of this kind Is Wyeth's Sage and 6ulphur Hair Remedy, a preparation of domestic sage, and sulphur, scien tifically compounded with later dis covered hair tonics and stimulants, the whole mixture being carefully balanced and tested by experts. Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur is clean and wholesome and perfectly harm less. It refreshes dry, parched hair, removes dandruff and gradually re stores faded or gray hair to its. na tural color.
